Hey NS, Slvsh is a freeski matchup league similar to what Stept's Skate on Snow was. We've filmed 12 games so far. The first game, Noah Morrison vs Noah Wallace, drops tomorrow, October 14th, on http://www.slvsh.com

Savage last calls are nothing new, but yeah, this cup has been especially cut throat. Guys want to win when there's exposure and money on the line.

And you could argue that Siver went sw 7 nose ---> sw 7 nose to cuban right at the beginning of the game, which basically set the pace. Then when he got the set back, his first trick was a b4 dub nose off... and then he doubled up on the front swaps when Tom missed his.

Fair enough, but i like to think there's a difference between calling a trick that is hard but doable, vs something that the other person refused to try an earlier version of them because they thought it was dangerous for them

i also really just like watching siver ski though, so i just wanted to see more content from him

I agree with this stance. Siver called tough tricks that both of them could do. Tom made that last call knowing that Siver couldn't do it. It wasn't against the rules, just not a very sportsmanlike way of winning.

mousseau.slvshWe got brackets back up, but they are definitely a bit buggy -- It'll still show your picks correctly but for some reason sometimes they show up in the wrong bracket. We're working on getting it fixed, but until then feel free to use this link to view bracket.


I totally forgot and thought I was doing real bad, but im 4/6 so far, excited to see more games!

I definitely get where you guys are coming from, but then where do you draw the line? There are SO many first tries for athletes in both this cup and previous games, that new tricks are kind of what makes things exciting. Most of the time riders give it a go, but sometimes they opt out. If Siver would have tried the HD 3 and fell, would you guys still feel the same way? If you look at his final attempt at the HD 5... he wasn't too far off.

Just my 2 cents though. I love watching Siver ski and had him as my pick for that game as well, but figured I'd play devil's advocate here. Trust me when I say everyone from the team reads this feedback so we definitely appreciate the discussion!

Totally, and i appreciate people doing that because i do it all the time myself

Bottom line, is that trying to control those calls would do more harm then good, and it would strangle the open nature of the game which is what makes it so good.

You're gonna have different games with different vibes. Cut throat skiing is great to watch, just like watching banks and khai chinese downhill without caring who wins. You've gotta have a mix of different types of games, and leaving it up to the riders on what to call is what's gonna allow that.

I'm dissapointed that their isn't more stoke for Tom's win, he is a super cool guy and isn't that much more well known than Silver. And I don't remember anyone getting their panties all tied up when people called tricks that they knew their opponent couldn't do in past games.

Siver was definitely butthurt about loosing. Interesting vibe in that game. Thought it was really cool how they were pretty evenly matched except those two specific tricks. But thats what makes this unique. Who either has the biggest bag of tricks or who will risk it all and try something new, good game IMO. Would have been cool if it was a different ender but gotta knock the opponent out somehow.

maybe I'm a little confused on how Trivia Crack works but why didn't Siver get the set back after three? Do you have to get three in a row yourself, then have get three letters for it to be possible on the person who starts? I thought the calls were even but this confused me.

3 letters in a row without the other person having a chance to set. So if win 2 letters, but fail and attempt, and then your opponent immediately fails his attempt, and the. You set another letter, it doesn't switch.

How would NS feel if Tom did hand drag tricks through the whole game on jumps and rails? Not trying to be a dick, just sincerely asking. I guess what i'm saying is I love SLVSH, and don't want to see it turn into something taken too seriously by riders, where they straight up go for the kill.


The perks of winning have a different influence on each rider. And I get it, some take the game more seriously than others, just how some riders are more aggressive about taking advantage of their opponents' weaknesses to give them the upper hand.


I guess what i'm saying is I REALLY like how SLVSH stands apart from all the freestyle comps everywhere, and when riders lean more towards playing for blood it kind of mirrors what standardized competing is all about. The vibe seems to crumble.

pretty sure it wasn t the first time in slvsh that someine threw twice a trick his opponent couldn t do or never tried before. I m stoked for tom to be in the next round.

-DanJust want to point out that plenty of film skiers develop their unnatural slides and spins as well and can be a huge part of the shot if you've been paying attention to how they hit rails.


For sure. I have noticed that.
I recall a discussion about this specifically way back and was a good explanation for that Dale mostly spins in one direction :)

To join the lowblow/trivia crack discussion here I gotta say that in SLVSH cup I think it's totally acceptable! Like we have said before stakes are high in these cups. The only way (that I see) to stop people from taking advantage of the trivia crack rule is to switch set after each trick/line. I don't want SLVSH to be very restricted.
The athletes always show good sportsmanship in non cup games :)

I know

and in my opinion, as that $ goes up, so will the desire to win. Which in turn will make things more competitive and lets face it, less chill. Regardless, i'll continue to support it because SLVSH is awesome.

You need to understand they recorded all of these round one games in the same day or two, magnus/luka is coming out tomorrow.

yea why not? it would be a different style slvsh cup and they would all relatively be doing the same tricks on the comp circuit so you would see some sick games. Like Evan vs Russ was one of the greatest games done and they are on the comp circuit

Stoked Luka won. He's got some of the freshest style in the game. Mad respect for magnus and what he does, but for me its annoying as fuck all the little spinny, presses and hand drags every single second added with the arm flapping. Painful to watch sometimes. Hope to see Albalejdjaohawe and luka match up.

Magnus' skiing is unreal, absolutely love it. But I kind of agree and it kind of looks like he doesnt even know how to properly stand on his skis at times haha. The flailing was a little much at points. Still, mad respect for the man and his swerve
