We wanted to take the time to Introduce ourselves to the Newschooler's community and skiing / snowboarding community as a whole.

We are OBFABA which doubles and an acronym as well as our promise to our brotherhood (not customers). Obtained By Few - Admired By All is a promise to our Brothers but to understand the depth of that promise and what it means its necessary you understand a little more about who we are now, have been in the past, and will be in the future.

OBFABA is deeply rooted in the action sports World, with interest in street wear / fashion industries. Together our Design / Cut and sew experience stretches for decades and supreme focus is on quality.

Together our team is involved in Skiing / Snowboarding / Skateboarding / Inline Skating, and various other action sports. We draw our style and influence from all of these avenues and combine it all into who we are as OBFABA




Obtained By Few

Obtained By Few means exactly what it says, few people will be able to own our pieces. Typically this exclusivity would be a marketing point and only be created to build hype and sell designs regardless of the quality or style, simply because there aren't many of these pieces available.

However "Obtained By Few" runs much deeper then a marketing point for us. OBFABA does not aim to build hype solely from the fact that few of our pieces exist. Pieces will be "Obtained By Few" due to the fact that OBFABA is a artistic expression of our teams passion for creativity, lifestyle and fashion sense. We aim only to share the by byproducts of our passion with a small group who appreciate the same core values as our company.

If you are a creative, active, artistic, devoted member and follower of your passion, wether it be skiing, snowboarding, painting, photography or underwater basket weaving OBFABA is for you

If you blow around in the wind, are heavily influenced by the crowd, are not an independant or free thinker we ask politely that you respect our company, and allow our pieces to belong to a brotherhood of people of a different demographic.

That is our definition of Obtained By Few


Admired By All


This is where the artistic and creative passion comes into play. Drawing influence from our background in music and action sports, we aim to create clean and clear designs that reflect our taste as a company. We are our own customers, and we will NOT create a piece of clothing we ourselves would not buy and want in our own closet.

OBFABA sticks closely to our roots, creating simple clean pieces with incredible quality and durability. Cut and Sew is our one true love, and our team has been creating custom pieces that we are excited to share with you over the next couple months. These pieces have great fit and feel in addition to great style.

"Admired By All" is really the most important part of who we are as a company, and we are really excited to share a few of our initial designs with NewSchoolers.










OBFABA couldn't be happier to be a part of the Newschoolers community. In the next coming months you will hear alot more from us and we cant wait to hear more from you as a community. We thank you in advance for your support.

quality looks good but i would seriously think about renaming. obfaba looks like obama at first glance and when said aloud sounds like a weird vietnamese dessert or something. "obtained by few admired by all" sounds cool and all, but its too long of a name, and the acronym doesn't roll off of the tongue well. just my 2 cents though, good luck with your startup

We really respect Jiberish as a company and their style in general, however we feel our style differs from Jiberish and other companies. Core values such as quality and style are central many brands. And although we will find ourselves reaching out to a similar audience we aim to create our own unique and recognizable style that our brotherhood can depend on.

JosephRikysTo be honest, it doesn't look to bad. I'd wanna see someone riding in your gear though.


Hopefully you won't have to wait to long. We're anxious to start getting pieces out to riders, as well as wear our own gear to the mountain.

Thanks for the input! We took quite a bit of time before settling on our name. Although we are the first to admit its a bit of a learning curve, we grow more and more attached to the name. The resemblance to "Obama" is unfortunate, however we are looking towards the future and feel resemblance will eventually fade and familiarity will take its place among the skiing community. (Similar to Orage) We feel so strongly about what our name stands for we are willing to tackle the initial educational curve to solidify what our name represents.

As time continues our team gradually has begun pronouncing OBFABA as
(Ah-Fay-Ba)
This more then likely is what you will hear spoken from all of us in any produced video media.

Your logo is a wire mustache, some of the shirt designs make no sense and look cheap, your "company's" name is too long and the acronym is too convoluted. The company description sounds like you filled out a Mad Libs for "broseph, tight community" small start ups and it looks like only 2-3 shirts have actually been made while the rest is in the photoshop phase. Overall, D+

Also relevant: there are no knots on their drawstrings, showing that they just took a random sweater and roped it through to make it look like they have gear but in reality, nothing has been actually created and tested. There would be knots if it had been made for someone to wear and represent their "company".

I disagree... I think that the OBFABA name is pretty dope. I didn't really think of Obama when I first read it. And you think it doesn't roll of the tongue well. I can't stop spitting it out... It just flows easy for me.

I think that quality looks good, the name is cool, and I hope to see your company grow and reach success. Cant wait to see more of your works. Good luck to everyone at the company.

Also any chance we could host a couple rite-of-initiation type events where we all get together and scream "OBFABA! OBFABA!!" and like pound our chests? Maybe even incorporate some call and response: "I say OBF you say ABA: 'OBF!' 'ABA!!'" I feel like there's a ton of potential there.

Anyway man, just spitballin' here but it sounds like you're onto a real winner.

And calling everyone that wears it "brothers"? What is this some sort of Free Masons of clothing?


I try to give people the benefit of the doubt but to be honest I'm quite disappointed. Designs are meh, leather draw string is trying too hard.

Why hasn't this thread been deleted yet? Surely it's against the rules of advertising on the forums, no?

But hey, I'm all for start up clothing companies that don't want people who aren't within their close circle to have access to buy their clothing. Great business model. Do we have to fill out a special form to gain access to your exclusive stuff, or is there some sort of hazing ritual like a fraternity?

What do you plan to do with the brand longterm beyond making clothes? e.g. what will you do for the action sports community?
What makes you worth spending money on vs other brands? (Rime Knits made a splash by planting trees with purchase, partnering with cool athletes, and making contributions to great ski content)

Things to consider about your brand presentation:

come up with a more concise & easy to say/read name, use that saying/acronym as a tagline under your logo or just as a piece of the branding.

Your logo should be readable at all sizes. It's not on your user icon. You're lacking contrast between the grey & yellow you chose. Weight should be increased on the font your chose too.

logo design resources from a master: video 1 & video 2

"Brush Script MT" is a really shitty font. Script/brush fonts need to have variety between the characters, or they translate as insincere. I suggest using a stylus and writing your script fonts yourself. Or at least taking the time to find a font beyond the basics included with your computer.

White text with a dropshadow over a b/w photo is a poor choice for conveying any information. The readability is real real bad.

Man, this is such constructive and useful feedback. I love how helpful NS is getting. Sadly this post is 8 years old and OBAMA OUTERWEAR or whatever haha isn't around I don't think. But I love this post so much!!
