goonsquadFocus on the positive in the world and in yourself. The world as well as yourself will become positive. Buddhist belief
And its true that i don't know what inequality is and you don't know what it means either
There are so many inequalities in the world how could any one person truly know. This goes farther then men and women, and humans in general think of the inequalities animals have to deal with and trees, plants, and even rocks. The world humans are living in is unequal.
I'm sorry but I literally have this talk with my girl often and i've said this before and she hates when i say it because it is so far from the point and makes no sense but to me it does.
Live life with the idea that all is equal. Once you realize that you are no better than anything on this earth and the earth itself is no better than you, there will be equality.
ThaLoraxWTF are you talking about? Inequality of trees and rocks?
NinetyFourAha, the quote, your name, and your icon, are all sooooo good together.

ThaLoraxActually, now that we're on the topic, I'm going to take this and run with the metaphor.
Trees and plants and rocks are actually all equal. There's an idea in ecology called Seral Stages of Succession where certain plants develop at certain times. Each stage of development is associated with certain plant types, and some types may be more dominant than others, but each seral stage plays an equal and necessary part in the development of the ecosystem. Example: After a forest fire grasses/weeds come back and anchor the soil (primary or pioneer seral stage) and then shrubs come back (secondary stage) and fertilize the soil and allow for animals to return, and then trees start to come back (peak or climax seral stage) and the forest is viewed as whole again.
Until very recently, it was generally believed by scientists that the climax seral stage was the most important stage and that ecosystem management should be geared toward managing ecosystems to stay in the climax stage believing that the dominant stage was the most important one. Then they realized that managing for just one type of seral stage was not healthy for the environment. They realized that the environment could not sustain itself without a balance between these stages. Regular logging and burns were implemented and the health of forest ecosystems started to flourish again.
Think of the climax stage as men and the other stages as women. They're all equal, but until recently there was a heavy bias towards one being more important than the other. Each has different but equally important roles. Just because each has different strengths and weaknesses, does that make one not equally as important than the other?

Dingosean what is your response to this video which positively destroys every argument you have made so far?

Do you like plug your ears and say la la la or something?
I admire your tenacity, youve already lost your argument repeatedly as if your position was a dead horse but you continue on, acting as if you can filibuster everybody with bullshit excuses to the point that they will all just give up.
Really man, youve lost this argument clearly. Stop fighting science, facts, and reason.
If i clean the house and drive the kids to soccer practice that is such a hardship that my labor is worth millions of dollars?
DingoSeanWhat has to happen is a shift in our society to better accept feminism, and it's goals.
As a predominantly male centred website, Newschoolers isn't actually a bad place to start changing this - as let's be fucking honest, the biggest problem when it comes to feminism are the attitudes of men - who sometimes scoff at feminism as some sort of attempt of women feeling superior or something (when really it's just the opposite) and then go back to their kitchen jokes.
I suggest all of us do a little bit of reading on this subject, to better understand it, as god knows there's way too much sexism on this site. If we're going to have more pink names (which has been brought up before) and allow them to feel comfortable enough to stick around, then we have to do our part to be respectful and more accepting.
ChubbyBoyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hg3umXU_qWchttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hg3umXU_qWc
That video is so stupid. So becuase woman are the most liberated they have ever been that means they should just give up and forget about the sexism against them? Rape culture? Changing gender roles? No, there are still a shit load of social, political and economical areas in which are the minority. What about rape culture? You don't know shit about woman... Get off your little male high horse and actually accept the fact that woman need feminism and woman are still discriminated against.
When I chose to do hospitality and wanted to learn how to cook I was told that was a girls subject. When I was asked my girlfriend if she saw the outfits at fashion week my male friends said they could hear my vagina. When I was didn't fight a kid at school I was called a pussy. When I chose not to have sex with my drunk girlfriend I was called a bitch. Feminism isn't just about females, it's about removing the negative connotations in assumptions. It's about a male being able to be heavily into fashion without being called a girl.

PurpleReignI understand that we probably won't get you to change your mind, considering how invested you are in proving to yourself that minorities and women are inferior, but next time you're in a classroom, office, or bar, try to imagine what it would be like to be a woman.
DingoSeanBetter yet, lets hope he just runs his mouth and gets his face punched in...

butterslut. Why is equality such a hard thing for people to grasp? Why is it such a big debate?
Everyone, no matter who you are, where you come from, what things you have or haven't had in your life, how smart you are, how smart you think other people are, or anything at all regarding yourself perceptions, needs to step back and look at the BIGGER picture. We are all exactly the same no matter what anyone believes. That IS what the truth is. We all have the same fate and we're all going to the same place...wherever or whatever that place is. We are all anatomically the same. We all shit and piss and eat and breathe the same. You might be smarter than the girl next to you, who gives a fuck? you're gonna die just like her. So why is it so hard for us to just do it in a friendly manner? If you have a problem with someone, just shut your mouth. You're not helping anyone or anything by being hateful towards others.
/rant
neutralzombieHmmm I'm one of those people who thinks we aren't more important than nature, or animals, but I'm also a realist that accepts that we need aspects of nature and animals to survive... That being said, positive environments are important, but you can't turn your back on existing problems.
neutralzombieit's a stupid post, because regardless of your gender, if you're not qualified for a job, you don't get it. you don't pay someone less because they're women. the job is irrelevant. the notion of a woman's capabilities again is blurred, because up until recently women weren't allowed to do certain jobs. my mom wanted to be a police officer and they told her she wasn't tall enough. now you can't do things like that. you allow someone access to trying, and base your decisions on capabilities. she wasn't even allowed to enroll in the police academy. today you see lots of women, and not just tall ones. the smallest girl on our rugby team could take out the biggest guy. it's about personal traits, not gender rules society invented. you are taught that women are inferior. but again how can you know is 1000 men apply, and 1000 women don't because they're told they can't without any real evidence of what they're capable of.
"women can't be fire fighters."
well new york city has over 250 female fire fighters. shove it.
goonsquadDingo I hear that you're preaching the good word but the only solution you offered so far was to start kicking down the doors and attacking those who disagree. And you see me as disagreeing with you so you've called me stupid and white. What did that solve? my ideas haven't changed but you've lowered my importance so i am now unequal to you. This defeats your purpose man im sorry but its true.
I agree with you just not your solution. reread what i've been writing. I'm not pretending, im believing big difference. Im believing in an idea that can make all equal
roddy116Women should be in the kitchen
Men should be in the kitchen
Everyone should be in the kitchen
The kitchen has food
DingoSeanI didn't call you stupid and white. I said you don't get it, and neither do I - at least in a way that compares to that of someone who has to deal with inequalities first hand (IE: being paid less for having boobs, etc). I don't see you as unequal to me... I just see your statement as really confusing and contrasting to the point. Your girlfriend seems to agree with this.
By kicking doors down, I mean to open up dialogue about this situation, and promote awareness of these issues. Only in that way can we even really start to come to terms with the problems and serve to rectify them with a change in attitude.
You have to start small to make a big difference.
goonsquadstart smaller, start so small that it's as if you've done nothing. And if your ratio is correct, you will change everything.
You're still, very slightly, claiming to get something that i don't though.
We're almost there.
Once you realize you know the same as everything else, which is nothing; you me and everyone will be equal.

zzzskizzzI disagree with so much of what you are saying, first off when women used to be firefighters did you know that the physical test was less than what a man had to do. which is great because if I have someone running into a burning building to save me I hope they take a modified easier test of physical capability. people then realized that that was ridiculous to do and made a change to do the same test as men. same thing with police I'm sorry but if I'm held hostage or I need physical help from a police officer I'd probably take 95% of men who are police before I would want your mom jumping in to help. so go ahead feel free to call me sexist about that.
if women were really got paid less in every single situation, for doing the exact same job, putting in the exact same hours and years and doing the same amount of sales and making the same amount of profit and have the same continuous years of experience as a man. wouldn't all companies just hire women because they could cut 25% pay across the board? is it always the case where they say this girl is a girl therefore she should make less money. Yeah it could be, or could another factor come into play if I run a company and I have some girl who says she's married and I know she's going to have kids and leave for a couple years to take care of them. Maybe I would rather have a guy I know is going to be there the entire time working, could you honestly say if you owned a company you would do something different?
yeah it sucks and its not fair that you're the only gender that can have children, and usually you're the ones that have to take time off to raise the kids. You got the short end of the stick on that. but even the raising children point set aside I think SOMETIMES there are other factors being factored into pay that you're not taking into account. I doubt its all black and white, where they go women lol pay them less. Maybe a girl works part time and a man works full-time part-time work always pays less than full time. didn't someone on the last page tell me not to take one statistic and make it end all to the problem.........
neutralzombiewow you never got educated did you.
that being said, i guess when i own a company i won't hire men because they're entitled to take paternal leave. useless.
ChubbyBoyrealise that not all feminist want female supremacy.
ScaredwhiteboyFemale supremacy isn't exactly how I'd describe feminism. More accurately I think I would describe it as misandry. 95% of people that self-identify as a feminist are actually just misandric.
Normally, I would address your entire comment, but the rest of it is so childish and nonsensical that it's not worth rebutting.
cornholiowhere are the emma watson pictures? all i see is a bunch of text
SitWhere are the pictures of you? all I see is a bunch of text?
ChubbyBoyNice stereotype you have there you idiot. Real feminist don't hate men. Feminism isn't just about woman. It's about men and mens right as well. But you wouldn't know shit about that would you because you get all of your information on feminism from radfems and you generalise the entire feminism movement as man hating. Feminism is a collection of movements and ideologies aimed at defining, establishing, and defending equal political, economic, cultural, and social rights for women. So before you try to argue against feminism fucking understand it first.
Making generalisations makes an arse out of yourself and goes to prove how little you really know about the subject of feminism.
ScaredwhiteboyI'm not making a generalization. I'm saying that 95% of feminists are really just misandric.
You might consider looking up the meaning of words you use before you use them.
Dln.escbrThere is a 15 point iq gap between african americans and white americans in the us.
This is not news to anybody. Anybody with something akin to curiosity will have researched this subject.
Dolan.Escobar1, understanding that women can assault a man with virtually 0 repercussions while a man hitting back carries huge repercussions is not a cop out.
2. Im not talking about women business owners. Im talking about the relative contribution to science and technology between men and women. Is it 2 to 1? 3 to 1? 10 to 1?
No its more like 100 to 1. Let that marinate as you flip through a physics textbook, skipping past hundreds of male innovators searching desperately for your one female innovator who you will parade around saying "look, women have had just as much impact on the stem fields as men!"
In hard engineering youll have just as hard of a time digging for female contribution to the building of smart phones, cars, and tbms.
You need better excuses dingo!
3. Prenups are not the norm. I dont know what recess of your rectum you pulled that authoritative statement from but your gonna have a hard time selling that shit stinking propaganda to anyone with a brain.
4. Ive had lots of girls ask me if i wanted to buy them a drink. Its not out of style yet. Maybe chicken wings will work better haha
Basically youre fighting a losing battle. I got nothing against you, but the reason that its such an uphill battle for you is because the facts are not on your side. Your brazen bullshitting only serves to alienate people from your position, as do the petty insults.
People here arent your sheep. You think you can outsmart everybody here to the point that everybody cries "eureka dingo, woman are so oppressed!" but you cant.
People arent stupid, especially on ns, which is why ur bs isnt gonna fly very far. But keep trying. You get an a for effort.
ScaredwhiteboyI'm not making a generalization. I'm saying that 95% of feminists are really just misandric.
You might consider looking up the meaning of words you use before you use them.
DingoSean...and you know what this statement is? a blatent generalization. There's no factual evidence to your '95%' number there. that's a generalized thought in your head that has fuck all to do with reality.
I can counter that very nearly 100% of guys who don't want feminism, or think it's stupid or unnecessary or something are misogynistic... and that generalization would actually be far more realistic than your opinionated figure...
es.em.jeeword...so many people don't understand that intention is only 1/10th of oppression. I'm not an extremist or anything but even phrases like "you guys" show how deeply engrained oppression is in our society. We can only incite change if we actively fight against racism, sexism, classism, ableism, all the negative isms. You can still be harmful even if you don't mean to be.
goonsquadYou're on a bus and a person is yelling at you. You turn your back ignore him. It's hard but you do it and there is nothing he can do but escalate the situation or stop. If he escalates you still ignore him there is still nothing he can do.
Same scenario you're on a bus and some one is yelling at another. You stand and face the victim with your back to the attacker he is left with the nothing to do but escalate or quit.
Same scenario you're on a bus yelling at someone. He turns his back on you. What do you do, ignore him or escalate the situation.
Sometimes turning you're back to a problem is the solution.
neutralzombiei'm the first person to deal with my own shit, so if someone's yelling at me it's situational. he's yelling because he's a homeless skitzo, i move away, and pressure my politicians to think about our homeless situation in the city.
if someone's yelling at someone on a bus, it's situational. i've given a guy shit on the metro because i thought he was being a huge douchebag to his girlfriend. i've done that on the streets. i've done it on buses. and i've gotten into fights to defend my own friends that were assaulted by other men.
last night someone blew me a kiss while i was walking in the mall. do you think i was so blind to let that just pass me by? no, i made sure he got the point that his douchebaggery was unwelcomed.
case in point? no i don't fucking ignore shit because complacency is easier.
es.em.jeesame people that tell you to ignore oppression are perpetuating it
DingoSean...and you know what this statement is? a blatent generalization. There's no factual evidence to your '95%' number there. that's a generalized thought in your head that has fuck all to do with reality.

ScaredwhiteboyAt the end of the day, arguing semantics is pointless. Men and women are already treated equally under law and women are more likely to receive preferential treatment in discretionary situations (i.e: divorce court). There is no need for a gender equality movement. So why does one claim to exist? Because it isn't really about gender equality.
If feminism was really about gender equality, it would be called gender equality. Feminists choose to identify as feminists, instead of egalitarians, because they don't want to risk being called hypocrites when they claim that the father should have no say in whether to abort a baby.

neutralzombiewell you could argue that black people in america have equal rights, but then i would easily argue all the discrimination still prevalent at the hands of government and laymen people, even with a biracial president.
and if a man wants the rights to raise a child the woman doesn't want, perhaps he should consider some kind of alternative, you know something impossible, like carrying the child through three whole trimesters, enduring things like hormone imbalances, food cravings, nausea, swelling of the legs and feet, gaining 20+ lbs, back pain, epiderals, c sections - which means your life after will be even more difficult, complications, the potentials of losing your life(less likely but still possible), hmmm and lets add the fun of bleeding a full month after birth, let alone giving birth, the potential of you still being pregnant way past your due date, and anywhere between 8 and 72 hours of labor!
so that being said, at the end of the day, a woman can birth a child, and a father can raise it, without the mother being present, but a mother still has to carry the child, birth the child, and the child more or less needs it's mother unless one should choose to substitute nature. sooo really a woman should endure all of this if she doesn't want? i left out the potentials of post partum depression.
