HC.OGGolly gosh powder skis are looking uglier, gayer and more retarded by the year (and to a large degree, people are too, unfortunately.) Someone has to buck the trend even if it means alienating large swathes of people. The age of meat-hammering is upon us all.
ChubbyBoyto be fair block colouring has been going on for quite a while now with skis. Mainstream companies can't make outlandish graphics as they wish to appeal to the highest percentage of the market. And that percentage of the market isn't interested in some tribal graphic like the YLE or a tiger like the Magic J. They want a simple graphic that won't stand out.
HC.OGYeah, they also look like bloated phallic symbols too. Anyway, I also have issues with the sluff that these skis produce too. I guess in time my design will prove itself (or it won't.) People also like choice. A large segment won't want to stand out, that's understandable, but enmity against those that do, that's just regressive.
gapersarefriendsSalomon just posted a teaser on their instagram and I have no clue what it is. Someone else embed I'm on my phone

New Moment...
BlackcountryBillNew Rossi FKS 140s have a new - much burlier looking - toe with a mechanical afd, I'm 80% sure they are still vertical release and adjustable toe height for AT boots.

Not for skiing.. Although Chris Rubens said on Instagram: 'This is the future and the future is friggen awesome'.. maybe some more news will come soon..
PudgeBill, you cannot just make a sweeping assertion like that and not follow up with some kind of proof.

HC.OG"experimental" would be better than "dumb" ... (although remember I've already skiied the original heartcarves so I already have a mental framework to think around.)
It's a "full rocker ski with the middle 50%-%60 of length flattened" would be a better way to think about it. The rockered bits are then boosted up to compensate for the flattened parts. There are a few reasons for the flat parts.
One is because a full rocker at that length would entail a very high take-off speed - ie the speed in which carving can start occurring comfortably. In the original model that entailed having the hands behind the back to remove speed wobbles which would be required up until that speed is reached when hands can drop to the sides.
I don't want to impose that hands-behind back requirement on this model. Rather, I want to make them usable a lower speeds (through sliding on the flat parts.) I also want to make them landable off large jumps.
I was thinking Thovex's "One of Those Days" in this model because in the original model there is a "usable speed" and it has an upper limit. So I wanted to push that usable speed up with this model.
I want to be the fastest guy on and off piste... but also in control and relaxed. No adrenaline.

TheWeazGood Job not even remotely touching on the supposed "extra camber" that I asked you about. but you did confirm that there is indeed zero camber in the ski so that's a nice contradiction there.
Also do you seriously think someone could ski like Candide on these?
no chance, with a turn radius that's less than 8 meters and such aggressive side cut, you would eat shit as soon as you tried to start going fast through chop.
.[sanhedrin].
CamembertNot shure but I dont think that AT boots with rockered soles will fit / work with the heels.. But if they work out that aswell I'm buying a pair..
BlackcountryBillSorry team! I only had a quick look the other day and didn't think to take any pictures as I was too busy poking around them. I'll do my best to have a friend grab a picture.
HC.OGNot sure if I should be replying to this thread (and martyring myself in the process) or rather I should be coming back in a year with the "told you so" video and getting a lot of deer-in-the-headlights type responses (and not a lot of praise) as people realize how wrong they were about the Meathammers.

NinetyFourFrom the SIA preview:
It looks like it might have the same function of the old toe just with new outer construction? Hopefully the dimensions and mount holes are the same. I guess that's a cool change for the binding because the current toe definitely has it's durability issues. But seriously, could they please take a look at changing the brake and baseplate design?
