WilsonMDo you guys know any forum or other website where I can learn more about skiing?
This could be vocab, tips for skiing, or jut learn anything about the sport and the equipment.
Last year was my first season so I can share some of what I used with you. If you're above this stuff I apologize, but hopefully someone will find it helpful.
You've obviously found this site. WTG. I subscribed to the trick tip cult forum even though I haven't really started playing with much of that yet other than a bit with nose butters.
I found this video series pretty helpful even though I didn't really agree with all of the instructions.
I hated that series' carving technique video - was caught up on this for way too long mainly because of this video, or perhaps better because of how I interpreted this video. I didn't find the mogul video or "powder" video particularly helpful either.
For carving I used this:
For moguls I found this as one site that was rather helpful [also remember backwards bicycle - ran across that somewhere and that helped a ton]
I used this for tree skiing, but I think it has good tips overall
but what really helped with tree skiing that was getting a pair of skis that could really support me rather than the rentals I was on and that pretty much took care of that. I'll probably use this for cornices and stuff next season.
I found out that listening to really relaxing music helped me tackle more stressful situations. I currently prefer to listen to no music, but when I would pump myself up I would get nervous and too stiff with my motions. Calming myself down with music basically had the opposite effect and lowered my intimidation, so I do listen to music more than I used to now.
It was good for me to go through all of the reasons I could do a run or hit something that would make me nervous as well.
I'm also being very active this summer in the hopes that it makes me less likely to be injured and easier for me to learn new things while skiing.
Hope that helps.
