MinggI went to seven springs today, the day before I leave for breck. The conditions weren't terrible but towards the afternoon almost everything started to get pretty sticky. I knew they were too and after I ate shit on this wall ride 4 fuckin times I should have took it easier, but I didn't and tweaked my knee so hard. When it happened I could have sworn I blew out my LCL. It felt exactly like when I tore my ACL, except a lot less severe and on the outside of my knee. After a couple minutes I got up and was able to ski down, It doesn't hurt to walk, but if I put pressure on my leg the wrong way it hurts pretty bad. It's not too swollen, but I'm still pretty freaked out that I might have just fucked myself for the trip this week. I've been looking forward to this week since I found out we were going and now that I'm not 100% I feel like I'm gonna be letting some people down, including myself. Ugh. This really, really sucks, and I know it's completely my fault for being a dipshit.
I did the same before a trip to colorado. I apparently tore my acl overshooting a cannon box. But there was no bruising or swelling or any other symptoms aside from stiffness. I didn't think it was that severe, laid on the couch for a week, went to colorado and skied more, then came back and got an MRI. I did take it easy while skiing in CO though.
And actually, last year I did something similar but with my elbow and skateboarding. Over rotated a 180 into a 270 because I do too many 360s, slid down the quarter pipe and fell with my arm locked up. I probably fractured my elbow a tiny, tiny bit, and I had to take it easy on my trip to CO again. It's fine now.
Moral of the story is lay on the couch in bubble wrap the week before a ski trip.
