In our ever-expanding efforts to give back to and support our loyal fans we are looking for devoted Saga Outerwear fans that will help us spread the Saga movement within their community.

We are looking for high school aged boys and girls willing to help us distribute and post Saga Scavenger hunt prizes as well as promote our grassroots marketing efforts. This program is not based on skiing or snowboarding skill. We want active motivated youths with a positive attitude.

In return for your services you will be compensated with Saga Outerwear products and discounts on purchases not available to the general public.

This type of marketing is the definition of grassroots. Grassroots means street level interaction with potential costumers. Leaving "lead bags" around town is a common and successful grassroots method.

Hahaha good catch. Mobil autocorrect got me. It was supposed to say "incentive based"

Thought about gear talk when initially making the post but felt that gear talk was more for discussions about gear. This is an announcement about a program to involve people. The best place for it to be would probably have been in a News section. But as everyone knows most people check the ski gabber forum most often.

Saga.read previous comments about why it is important for this program to have social media profiles.


Out here in france, no one, and i mean NO ONE uses twitter anymore. it's all about zapiks, skipass and instagram. So does no twitter account me no way of this happening even for french homies? because i have a decent insta account, it would be a shame

We've asked for those social media profiles to be listed so we can gauge your social media clout. If you have them all and use them all effectively great. If you only have a few thats fine. its more of a matter of how well we think you will be able to use social media to promote the tasks we ask.

I think it's a good idea. It'll bring in more sales for saga and at the same time it'll help high schoolers get more involved with the business and probably get their name out there. I'm not sure how it's gonna work but it sounds like something that would be pretty cool to be a part of. A lot of people are looking way too far into it and accusing saga of shit. They're a company and they're obviously gonna plan to benefit from this but I don't think the kids involved are gonna be taken advantage of like some people have implied.

High school kids are more easily influence especially freshmen and sophomore. If they're getting into skiing/ snowboarding and someone tells them about saga and that person puts in a really good word, the kid will be more likely to buy because they don't know that much about other companies.

I'm not going to claim to know a lot about marketing because I don't, but I just feel like if I saw a bunch of freshman sophomore that We're walking around with a certain brand of clothing. I can't see too many older kids saying I want to be like them. I could be wrong but logically that just makes sense to me.

i think it's more the other way around. a senior in HS with a large following trickling down to juniors, sophomores, freshman, etc, can have a large influence on trends at their school. high schoolers want to fit in, especially younger ones. he meant they are marketing to these kids, not from them (i think).

That's true. I just thought they were trying to get kids to buy younger that way as they got older they would continue to buy saga. But you make a good point. I guess it could work both ways

Yeah but that was my whole point, start with college kids, and then seniors will want to wear it and so on and so forth. But that's also good point you could just start with seniors.

High schoolers, before you jump on this, think through what is being offered. Saga wants to expand the demographic that purchases their gear. To do this, they are launching a "grass roots" market effort which employs kids as promoters to plug Saga to their friends.

What do you get from this? You look cool, get some free gear, and a generous opportunity from Saga to purchase gear from them at a discounted rate.

Saga wins out big on this. They make money on your friends and you buying the discounted gear they let you in on. It seems like maybe Saga should be paying you to help promote the brand. But why would they? After all, if you don't do it for free, there are hundreds of kids who gladly will.

This is a brilliant marketing scheme by Saga. I'm not saying this is bad, just consider both sides of it.

Everyone in this thread seems to be very mislead about the intentions of this program. The primary goal IS NOT to drive sales. It is literally to get our fans and customers involved with our ground level operations. You can choose to speculate and believe what you want but from day 1 we have strived to work with and help out our fans. Yes its true that this may potentially lead to new sales but when we came up with the idea it was not to increase sales. It is primarily to get involved more personally with our fans and give certain ones a chance to be a part of this brand.

I really don't see how anyone can say anything negative about what we're trying to do here. If you are you are just speculating and making assumptions about something you don't have all the information about. The people selected will be more than pleased with their compensation and rewards.
