Talk to Chris if you want to know about faculty and stuff ^
He's super helpful. Also, when are you planning on coming here and where are you planning on skiing too?
IMO the best schools to teach at would be McQueen, Damonte, or if you want to do at-risk kids, Hug.
McQueen, Damonte and Galena are mostly rich white kids, the wealthiest in order. McQueen's PTA does a shit ton for them and they definitely have the highest cash flow. Those would be like the top tier schools in Reno. Galena is closest to Mt Rose, the closest resort, and thats where youll get a lot of ski kids.
Next up would probably be Reno, Spanish Springs, and North Valleys. Not as nice as the other schools, but still better than the others to come. Reno has a mix of inner city kids and rich white kids. Spanish Springs is probably the farthest out from town and also has some really wealthy people with Wingfield right there, but also a lot of Mexicans from Sun Valley and also some natives, who will also give you hell. There are also some "country" kids out there. Theres a lot of ranching and horses and stuff so every kid out there with a pickup is also gonna want to have cowboy boots and a dip in. (I went to Spanish Springs and graduated in 2012). North Valleys also pulls from Sun Valley and gets some at risk kids, but theres also a lot of middle-class housing out there. Its actually a pretty average school.
The most at risk and underprivileged schools would have to be Hug, Sparks, Wooster and Reed. Reed is close to being decent, but its still pretty shitty. The kids are assholes and the facility is way under par compared to a lot of the schools in the district. They have the potential to be good, but still pretty bad. Wooster has the IB program, but they did that to try to bring up the school. Theres a high mexican population there and pretty much besides the white IB kids, thats all there is. My cousin student taught there and she said a lot of kids werent fluent in english and didnt give any fucks about school. Sparks is pretty similar, minus the IB program. Hug is notorious for being one of the worst schools in washoe. They have some of the best staff, but they still fall short. This is the highest minority population of them all. With blacks and mexicans being pretty much all students except for a handful of white kids. Its in a not so nice neighborhood and this is where you'll deal with the at risk kids you were told about. I've talked to the principle and a few teachers there and they said they all love it because of that though.
These were all pretty stereotypical and generalized, but you get the idea. Its whatever you want to do, and wherever you can get.
You can PM me if you want to learn more hahaha
