Lucaswow I hope this works out for you guys. Although, i haven't tried it yet I have to say the way you present it is super clean and makes me want some. Ill have to pick some up once the online sales are running.

What kind of margins are you guys making on each bottle? Also, do you guys have a plan to roll this out into stores?

Thanks man, margins are a toutchy subject. I'd rather not say because when giving a number withing explaining it people may be turned off by our 'perceived greed' :)

When selling person to person (online/markets) margins are favorable, however the volume is low. Although we're not in any 'big box' store keep in mind around 45% of your margin is removed for suppliers and individual store margins when that time comes. Of course when you reach that level economies of scale comes into play. In 8-12 months assuming all goes well, my target is to have our production cost down by 15% minimum. Keep in mind this is production cost, when we reach those levels our operational expenses will increas conversely adding to our net overhead.

Add taxes, registration fees, ( just for example all the registration fees with the govt have cost between 5-10k already),- operating costs: little things like business cards, trade and farmers market fees, legal fees, kitchen space rental...costs it all adds up.

Although we've beeen developing this for 3 years and thinking about it for at least 5, we are just starting to sell, and are still bleading money badly. Ex, I sent 6 bottles to NS members on saturday, cost me around 70$ to get those free samples out! Multiply that by a factor of A LOT and you see where we stand.

We're launching a kickstarter likely the end of this week early next week. If all goes well that will really help us, with particularly buying in bulk, buying a new bottler, and a lot of advertising.

Trying to get our biz account online established. That should be soon, and well be selling online soon after.

Thanks for the feedback too man, a lot of time went into the label and branding, always happy to hear people like it.

As for shipping, I personally am very fond of the "vintage" look, something which you seem to go for as well. I would pack the bottles in some sort of high-end cardboard box with simplistic vintage labeling on the outside, in the same style as your bottle. The box should be filled with shredded paper in the same brownish tone as the box, for cushioning of the bottle. Thing freight caskets from Indiana Jones mixed with cardboard and the labeling of your bottles.

One question though, does it have any nuts or seeds in the ingredients? One of my roomates was wondering for an allergy.

Hi man, I should have gotten back to you for sure. That's on me, cut me a little slack though. I wake up for work at 5 every day and get home around 8. Than until 12 I'm working on this business. Than all weekend I'm working in this business. We're all trying to make that Gucci money :) but just realize every bottle I ship free costs me 10-12 bucks. I've already sent a lot out but it will take some time to get to everyone. Thanks for bumping the l thread though.

Hi guys, little behind sending bottles out. Costs me about 12 bucks with shipping...especially to you west coast bastards :). So bare with me, I'm going broke sending these samples out.

As you can tell we're going with that wiskey vibe, I buying a bunch of new bottle. I'm calling them Chi-Cho Shots. Basically the little one shooters you get on a plane or smuggle in places or buy if you're an alcoholic at a liquor store. Will allow me to send out 100's of samples at a much cheaper price to us, and more importantly get it in a lot of people's hands.

This means I'm spending a boat load of cash buying new bottles printing new labels to fit these bottles and buying new shipping boxes/envelope.

Have one more NYC health regulation to pass than Ill be dropping the Kickstarter that could really help out the business.

If anyone is good with design and wants to volunteer to help fix up our website too let me know. Would be forever grateful. Don't have much funds to send your way but we could surly work something out. Can either give you free sauce, gamble on a % of the kickstarter funds we raise...options are endless.

Can't wait for the rest of you fuckers to try our Sauce.

We're trying to finalize our 'slogan'. I personally like

'Chi-Cho put it in your mouth'.

Other options we have are,

'Chi-Cho, so much more than just another hot sauce.'

And a bunch of others we're thinking of and that we have floating around scratched on paper. If anyone has preferences or some cool ideas let me know.

We're back. Had a minor run in with some paperwork, out legal guys said we should maintain a low profile for a few weeks. Sorry to all you guys I said I'd send bottles to. We're good to go now. Got a few people who's bottles will be sent out this week...asap.

Check out our kickstarter and video we have up. I'm Matt, my partners are my boys Joe and Nester. We're struggling with our cash flow, everything costs a ton of money. We just dropped a few grand to get the final testing of our ingredients. So this money will be able to take us to the next level!

I know we're all broke and ski seasons coming up (I'm trying to get that season pass to mt snow) but if anyone had even 5 bucks laying around they want to throw our way it would be really appreciated.

If anyone on here does vinyl dicut stickers too let me know. I use an outside guy now but would love to work with someone directly on NS.

I agree with him. I think youll have more success if the price of a bottle is closer to the price online. For the average guy who stumbles on your page, why would they pay $40 for something when they can pay $9 somewhere else.
