Some financial firms will be asking for your SAT scores

Oh I would agree 100% that GPA is a much better indicator (when classes are taken into consideration), thats why I ranked the SAT as kind of a last resort thing to look at. You have to realize that the people applying to these jobs are all 4.0s or close to that due to the huge amount of grade inflation in the programs these people come from. I think that sometimes they really are looking for an added variable for separation and I do think standardized tests can help with that.

I think SAT scores are a much better indicator of intelligence than GPA. You can study 80 hours a week and get the same GPA as somebody who studies half that time. The person who studies less is clearly smarter but the GPA doesn't show it at all.

Because determining the right grammar in a sentence and finding synonyms of words that I don't know the meaning of will effect me in my pharmacy major, right? I'm sure that my shitty SAT scores are going to hold me back in chemistry and biology. You put forth enough effort in school, you're going to increase you intelligence level. First you say I'm lying about my grandmother passing away and now you're calling me stupid because i got the average score on a standardized test which was obviously good enough to get me into the program i wanted to get into. When will you stop with these annoying ass comments about everything I post?

I think schools rely to much on SAT's and don't take into consideration what classes people take. I know UVM only looks at SAT scores. I didn't get accepted there because of my SAT scores but my GPA was beyond their standards. Yet I get accepted into the pharmaceutical sciences program at URI which is a lot harder to get into than applying undecided at UVM. Yes, standardized tests do separate you from others who have the same GPA. But, I think they count for too much. As you said, they should be a last resort.

wat? Work ethic doesn't at all equal intelligence. Some of the dumbest people I know maintain great GPAs by studying and completing homework on time, while some of the smartest people I know get shit grades. GPA is not a good indication of intelligence IMO.

On another not has anyone taking the GMAT? There's a finance forum I go on and it's common for kids to say the get in the 700s which seems extremely difficult.

ehhh you're reading my post wrong. I was referring to the job market not in getting into colleges. I do think standardized tests should play a major role in college acceptance, its the one universal way to separate people
