I'm trying to learn some grabs, but I have a problem. I keep tipping the way that I grab. In other words, I can't seem to balance myself so that I land it. Does anyone have any tips on staying balanced in the air while doing grabs? The specific grab I'm trying to do is a truck driver grab.
Don't bring your body to the skis, bring your skis to your body
Sir, the possibility of successfully navigating a last run is approximately 3,720 to 1!
I thought about that, but I wasn't sure because I tried it and it felt funny. It makes sense though, thank you!
^ I also use the momentum from the pop to bring the skis up smoothly.
Bring your skis to your hands, not hands to ski
get some air awareness. do jumps and spins flips and rolls on a tramp, tape some hot wheels tracks to your feet, and learn what your body does when you move around in the air trying to grab dif places. youll learn that for a truck, you need to stiffy your knees and point your toes up, and bend forward to meet em
Don't ask Steve Stepp for advice. That's all I know
Bend your knees up to bring your grabbing point closer
I was trying that, but it didn't work. I think it is because I was taking my body to the skis and not the skis to my body.
Lose your poles for just a few runs, you'll nail the grabs then.
Once you get comfortable like that grab your poles
Like other said, bring your skis to your hand, not the other way around.
That makes sense too, but I lose a lot of balance and control without my poles, so I'd have to go off smaller jumps probably.
As crazy as it sounds, I don't have access to a trampoline. My parents won't let me get them because of insurance costs going up, and the closest trampoline place to here is at least 60 miles away. What's easier, doing grabs, spins, or flips? I could learn spins or flips first if they're easier.
To learn a truck driver, just start by going over the knuckle with a ton of speed and get air and go for the grab, dont use poles at first. That is the easiest way. After you get that down, just straight air it for a while until you get the perfect. Then just add them to your trick.
Yeah, doing it without poles has been mentioned once before on here, i guess ill give it a try.
Try waiting longer before you go for the grab
Find a super popy side hit, one that launches you way up and sets you back a bit. Bring the skis up, it'l feel natural
I hate shin bang, it feels like someone took a rubber mallet to your shins without mercy
Unfortunately, my home mountain sucks huge dick, and the most airtime you get on the biggest jump is probably like half a second if even. I'd say the tallest jump is 6 ft and it's extremely flat.
