i would stay in salt lake city, theres tons of cheap motels... much much much cheaper, and only 30 minutes away. plus if you decide you want to ski up in park city it cuts the drive time in half by staying in slc. if you dont have a car, i know theres a public bus that goes up there for very little money.
Riding the public bus up and down would be a time consuming royal pain in the ass and would put a damper on vacation enjoyment. On the other hand I would check prices for hotels at alta because the two resorts are within skiing distance of each other and I would think that alta's shit would be cheaper since their lift tickets are cheaper and their resort is more ghetto.
We pay our debt sometimes.
When I was in highschool we stayed at a resort down in the valley which was right on the bus line. It was also on the Trax line so if you want to go up north to downtown its an easy 15 minute ride. It can be a pain riding buses but its actualyl a realyl good transportation system and worth it to save a couple hundred dollars/
