I'm in Northern BC, there's like 70cm of snow packed at the very base of the mountain and 110cm at the highest groomed area, or something like that, which still leaves rocks and sticks hangin out but that's expected for the first day so I dunno why the hell they don't just open in the rain.

I remember skiing on green snow one year. The grass poking through the snow got diced by everyone's edges and its chlorophyll guts were smeared all over the place.
