Couple binding questions
Hey what's up everyone, just got a couple questions..
so i have a pair of older volkl katanas i got (very) used last year, and i love them, but they had already been mounted twice, and i had to put some shitty cheap salomon bindings on them cause it's all i could afford at the time.
now i don't have enough money to get new skis but i def need more legit bindings on them (i prereleased twice in situations where i really shouldn't have last year), but these skis have now been mounted 3 times. so i imagine i can't do a 4th mount, even if they do have metal topsheets, right?
can i mount a nicer pair of salomons in the same holes? is that safe? also, i would like to get into skinning-- do the salomon guardians use the same mounting pattern as other salomon bindings, and if so, can i put guardians on there? additionally, is it dumb to use katanas as part time skinning skis? i know theyre not as light as most but i'm not too much of a weight weenie..
Anyway, any advice or input is appreciated. thanks!
4 mounts is definitely getting up there... I don't like to re-mount more than once. I'm not sure about the hole pattern, but based on the shape of the Guardian, I'd assume it's different. Don't take my word for it though... I bet the Katana is a dope touring ski!
Do you ever wanna, like, look at a chick and bare your teeth? You know, like a chimpanzee?
so a forward spinning flippy would be a blunt?
Your momentum is wrong.
look at the binding thread sticky dumb ass, i just shoved a havinaro pepper up my ass hole you thing i wanna listen to you complain about vagasil?
i eat pube for dick!
with a metal topsheet you could go to up to 6. I know it sounds crazy but ive talked to a few shop guys and they have mounted beater skis that other employees wanted to try about 8 times. they still shred them every few weeks or so too and they arent very nice skis. The guys said that you can mount most average quality skis about 5 times max, and if you haave a solid binding retention feature, then you could do more. I am very confident that you will be fine with 4.
First off there is no magic number that skis can be mounted. The problem is you need space between the holes and this is usually the limiting factors.
But if you find a salomon sth binding you can use the same holes. The oversize toe will use the exact same holes a driver will only need 2 extra holes and one filling on each ski. That will be your best bet and also they are one of the best bindings so it's win win.
great, in that case im glad i can at least put solid bindings on these thing
thanks a lot
anyone know about the guardian mounting pattern?
Guardian and the new sth2 are alike the old sth is the same as the old salomon bindings you have. You should be ok switching to guardian but it won't be as simple as getting an sth in the old holes.
thanks for the replies man
well, my shitty bindings aren't old, just shitty and cheap, i think they're z10s or something from last year (my skis are at a friend's house right now or i'd check)
so you think they'll be which pattern?
They will be the same he patern as last seasons sth. The hole patern of the sth 2 has changed. See if you can get an sth driver from last season and you will only need 1 hole filling and 3 new holes per ski.
sounds good. thanks a lot man
Find a bindings that fits into one of the previous hole patterns and have them either heli-coil them or use inserts.
hm okay so i should probably just find out what each set of holes was for and use something with the same pattern as one of them. thanks
so do i have no hope of getting some guardians on these things?
Talk to the shop and see how things line up.
