Honestly, there's not a whole lot of difference. Having shot both systems, I tend to like Canon a little better ergonomically, stylistically, and their menus are a little simpler. The bodies tend to be cheaper, and the batteries tend to be better in a lot of models.
Canon also has the ability to easily use many different vintage glass mounts without a corrective element, whereas Nikon can only use Nikon (and unless you're using certain cameras, old Nikon glass works WAY better on a Canon because most Nikons won't meter old lenses.
That said, Nikon is fantastic, and I am using Nikon for the time being after having the majority of my video gear stolen over the weekend.
