It could be something as simple as...

[Ride - Montreal to Avila] Driving up a few nights a week, have room for two.

or

[Couch - Red Mountain, BC] A case of beer / night, max two nights.

or

[Filmer - Keystone, CO] Looking for riders to film this weekend, November 9th-10th.

Something like that? We'll figure out the details / rules once the forum gets going and we assign a few mod to it. Feel free to share any suggestions though!

I don't know how reliable this is. Some people are unreliable as fuck and imagine waiting somewhere and them not turning up. I don't think it will work for the Euros unfortunately

It's only reliable as the people linking up -- how would it be any different than other rideshare sites? At least here we are connected through a community and username identity.

People have been doing it for years and years on Newschoolers, so I don't really see there being an issue. Hell, that's how I met my first ski buddies. And how would it be much different from using the BST forums? Sure they're are shady people, but I think the community does a great job of self moderating & using the feedback system.

Just my 2 cents!

Wow, you must've run in to some real douche bags! I used go-shred.com and other sites on numerous occasions (I'm European) and never had any problems, in fact I've met some great homies that way.

Two really great ideas. The industry hiring page is pretty unreal, and the ride share / place to crash could turn out very useful. Maybe it will turn some people's houses into hostels?

Meh, coulda been better as an addition to regionals, that way people don't have to skim through everything, and there's no chance anyone outside of america will get a lift I reckon, jobs is cool though.

That's what I was thinking. The Ride and Chairlift Forum could be the final nail in the coffin, if Regionals wasn't considered dead already. The early season reports for mountains opening and event announcements will be all Regionals will have left.

How would this change anything? If you won't find a carpool on here you probably wouldn't have in regionals.

If you don't want to skim through it, you don't need to. It's an additional forum. You can still do whatever you want in regionals.

Not really, because nobody uses the regionals anymore. If people were still posting this type of stuff there, I obviously wouldn't have created a new forum. Unfortunately everyone has now resorted to posting this kind of stuff in SG, so hopefully the new forum will reduce some of the clutter that we've seen the last few weeks.

I think this is a great Idea. My only thing would be to make sort of a template for the ride/lift one where you fill out a form with all of the dates so there is no confusion and it is easy to understand for people looking for lifts. Also I think you should make it possible for OPs to delete their own threads without constantly bugging the mods because people could change their mind / stop offering the deal quite often.

I hope this really kicks off, it would be awesome!! Mobile support for something like this is vital IMO because people could make quick offers that would need to be heard of on the hill for them to work.

This is definitely something I'd like to establish!

Unfortunately we won't be able to offer delete permissions, but the solution could be as simple as adding two mods to the team who are in charge of moderating said forum.

i don't see why not. i made a thread and put a cover letter up in there just for shits and giggles, it's not like you HAVE to list your address and phone number and shit. you'd be surprised how many industry people lurk, putting yourself out there couldn't hurt.
