Help with balancing rails

is there any training I can do to get ready for the season? my backyard ramp is pretty shitty for rails so I need another way to practice

Being serious for a second. This. For sure.

I went from being unable to slide rails to having switch lip on. Ski slides on lock. And blind surface. Hurts like a motherfucker to just hit solid ground but makes rails during the season way less intimidating and enjoyable.

defiantely try and make a better setup, i learnt a shit load from mine! Also for balance slack lining is an awesome way to train! It's pretty damn hard at the start but once you get it its super fun! Hope this helped man!!

Yeah this is insanely true, If you dont have the room for a bigger drop in, or big enough slope, just get a banshee bungee. I hooked mine up to a tree in my front yard and just placed some astro turf down with a little 180 jump to the rails. It really helps a lot.

if you dont have access to a tightrope of lions... get a slackline, and be ready to do work, patience.

when all else fails, get a single 2x4 about four feet long, place it flat on the ground, and jump on it. you will gain muscle memory by learning the various switchups and spins on. when you are ready, turn the 2x4 so it is balancing on the 1.5 inch width... you will barely be able to jump on it and balance it, but when you can 270 on 360 switch up on it, you know the force is with you. if you get that down... take it to a skateboard...

for summer setups, i've wondered about rigging up like an old mattress underneath the rail and putting turf over that. I think it would definitely help lessen the pain factor in falling. thoughts?

it doesn't really hurt at all to fall off the rail most of the time especially because most summer setup rails are really short

Get a slackline if you cant make a new backyard setup, those are great, and get jacked, especially in the core.

if your parents have one or you have acess use those yoga balls when you work out your core and progress to better and better balance positions. It will train your balance and core at the same time

Have a skate,

srsly helps with balance and also commitment. Start with ledges and then work your way up to flatbars and handrails. If you can 50 50 a handrail youl find that most basic rail tricks are easy to learn and it gives you a good foundation to go from.
