so you guys make fun of someone because they cant speak the english language? the language that is by far one of the toughest to understand beside chinese or japanese. we (americans) probably came up with one of the dumbest fors of language i can imagine. fuck spanish is fucking easier than this shit here in the states. how words are converted and how some words (to, too, and two) all sound the exact same yet me drastically differnt things. yeah that really makes sence doesnt it.

Personally, Andy, I don't think they'd give a flying fuck. I posted the original cartoon on here twice, and I'm not going to take credit for the joke itself. Call it a parody, because that's essentially what it is. I think you're getting waaaaay too uptight about the internet, man.

First of all. I don't drive a Miata, I have a Taurus SHO. Picking at what kind of car I have is the stupidest form of argument I've ever heard.

Second of all. Its not parody because it's not poking fun at the matter you took the comic from, its blatantly representing somebody elses idea as your own. In fact you even removed his copyright information from the bottom of the comic.

I support Penny-Arcade and I've been reading them from the beginning, I'd just prefer that you at least give them the credit they deserve on their own comic. Come up with your own ideas.

^if you really wanna get technical, it's called parody, and it's allowed under fair use laws in regards to copyright. If you're one of the creators of Penny Arcade, and this offends you, and you've got the money for a long legal fight, then, in theory, you could go ahead and sue for copyright violation.

Firstly, you're arguing against Lineskier first, and then suddenly switched to me, I never commented on you car. But anyways, I didn't 'remove' the copyrighted information, I only took the little guys and the font. I'm not representing their ideas as my own. watch.

There. The humour here isn't supposed to be in the original joke, it's in the adaptation. Basically, the target is as dumb as the original, hypothetical forum idiot that the original comic writers created. I'm not trying to use their joke as a joke unto itself (that would be stupid, it's been done already, people have laughed at the idea of the forum moron), but rather, I'm putting it in a new context: this forum is filled with the types of people the original criticized. If you don't see the contextual irony as humorous, well, that's your issue. You need to be less uptight about this, though, it's really not a big deal.

I'm not going to argue any further after this post, however, you took somebody else's idea and were presenting it as your own. The characters they made you didn't even redraw, you just whited out portions of the old comic and added some of your own text. The text isn't even all original. You removed the copyright message on the bottom as well. Its not that I'm being uptight, I just feel that you're misrepresenting something thats not your work. It doesn't take talent to rip off Penny-Arcade. The least you can do is make your own drawing. I know you're a somewhat intelligent individual, so you must be able to think of something original in that brain of yours, it's not that hard. Plus, picking apart someone's grammar and spelling isn't even that great of a gimmick when its done week after week.

No I wasn't. I pointed this out above. If anyone doesn't know, this is a penny arcade comic. I do not want to have people think I made it up, nor care if they do. You're wrong, plain and simple. This is not my work, and I don't care who knows that. Therefore, I cannot possibly be attempting to pass this off as my work. It wouldn't make any sense.

That's true, in fact, all of the text is mine, except for the big one at the top. That was the point, that it's a knock off. Redrawing the characters would have eliminated that point. That's also why I took (minor) pains to use the same font (also cut and pasted, individual letters), rather than just using the text tool. But whatever.

As I said, if you'd bothered to read, no I did not. I simply only took the characters, and not the rest of the text or comic. I didn't cut anything out, the copyright was a part of the comic that I didn't cut and paste, because I had no intention of using that area of the comic. There was no malicious deletion of any copyrights. If the copyrights had been on the part that I'd copied, I certainly wouldn't have taken the time to delete them, because I don't give a shit about them.

The point was that we run this joke into the ground, according to Josh, but whatever. You're entitled to your opinion. Apparently, at least a few people got the joke and thought it was funny.

Just stop. I'm not stealing jokes. This would not be made less funny (in my estimation) for having seen the original, it is made MORE funny, because it is seen as it should be. That was the point. I can't believe this isn't getting through to you, being the equally (as you put it) 'somewhat intelligent individual' that you are.

I think, as I said, it might be because I've been stuck on planes all day and am just a bit ruffled. I've just been a fan of Penny-Arcade since they started, and seen the fall that they got about the whole Strawberry Shortcake copyright thing, and just didn't think it was respectful to get rid of the whole copyright notice that they left on the comic, thats all. I browse too many forums and everyone uses this tired old joke. I'm willing to draw a special Golden Wheelchair comic for you to make it up for my crotchety self though.

I never once owned a Miata, I had a Nissan NX1600, then a Mazda MX-6 LS, then a Mazda MX-6 GT Turbo, then a Taurus SHO, I never EVER owned a Miata.

um, no one came up with english d-loc, english is a bastardization of the germanic languages, and to compare it to spanish is ridiculous, spanish is one of the romance languages, coming from latin, and more akin to italian, and french.

have you even taken time to compare the sentance stuructures? quite differant. as for words coming from the romance other languages, that is because of the convergance of the germanic with the romance
