Dale's edit won, and while i think it was close between him and McNutt, both edits were pretty epic, and Dale earned is 100g's

However apparently the Deer Valley Retirement Home just got internet access, and the nice readers of unofficial don't seem to agree.


If there is a more uneducated community of skiers, I haven't seen it.

It was a TGR contest and Dale didn't ski a single line that wasn't shoveled. Not one cliff, and not a single fucking pow line. I say that at the very least should get people talking. Obviously nobody at TGR gave a fuck about this contest as it BARELY made it to page 2 at any point, and nobody here cares either- nobody even noticed when Dale took best stomp for fuck's sake. They just wanted to talk shit initially about how fucked up TGR is and how Dale will never win, etc. So yeah dude, good for Dale, but don't be surprised that some peoples' dicks just don't get hard over jibbing shopping carts- I mean where is the 4bi9 house anyways, fkn South Jersey??



They wanted people talking, arguing and getting heated over the contest. They finally got it. If it's one thing you can count on it's an NS/4bi9 popularity contest going apeshit.

The mantra of the contest is “Of the People, by the People, for the People,” so you’ll have to ask the general public what they think is the coolest and most progressive style of riding. We don’t pick the winner, we just provide the platform.


The top 21 qualifiers voted on each others edits, a score of 1-10 for 3 categories. The highest scored edit (by the riders) won.

It doesn't matter if it was a TGR contest or a wal mart contest or a fuckin first drop contest , and TGR made that known from the get go. Next year, make an edit, qualify in the top 21 and you can score everyone's edit however you please. Chastise the riders for voting the way they did, because that's who selected the winner.

CHEA!!! this is what im about. But then again unoffical knew that posting this would create a jibber vs big mtn war, but im saying ANY edit that blew peoples minds would have won. And it just so happened that it was an urban edit. Next year ill be entering my super-g and downhill edit.

I never said a strictly big mtn edit SHOULD win, I was just fucking blown away they'd choose an edit that didn't have ONE SINGLE pow shot, not one cliff huck and not a single damn natural feature anywhere in it.

Talk about one-dimensional.



Also I don't want it to seem like I'm hating on Dale as it was certainly a sick edit, I just think it was too "one trick pony" to be worthy of $100k. That's all. I understand WHY they chose him, as TGR wants in on the NS click factory. BAD. Just my personal opinion and if you don't like it feel free to tell me to suck an elephant cock. I'll survive.

But i see where you're coming from, this contest would have been prime for Candide to enter another mind blowing edit where he skis some ridiculous deep pow on a ridiculously steep chute then does a triple on a ridiculously huge jump. But all in all, based on what was entered, Dale threw the fuck down. He did what he knew he could do best. And i don't see many big mtn athletes hitting rails.

TGR didn't pick Dale, the winner was chosen by the top 21 athletes. Everyone ranked each edit in several different categories. It was literally as close as it could get between Dale and McNutt. Dales edit was impressive; I certainly wouldn't call him a 'one trick pony'. I personally wanted to see McNutt win since the day he released the POV precursor to his Collab edit.

I don't know Dales financial situation, but I just think it would have been cool to see someone without big budget sponsors and who has to work all summer to ski all winter, win the 100k.

You still seem to think TGR picked the winner.

The top 21 picked the winner and those 20 other skiers (all big mountain riders) voted higher for dale than mcnutt or any other skier in the top 21.

I'll just leave the discussion now though simply because I don't want it to seem like I'm bashing Dale because he certainly did do his thing to the max... I just felt like if it was a porn, it would have just been a really good BJ POV when I was really hoping for a good anal scene too.

I responded in that fashion because from your post, it didn't seem like you were acknowledging the fact that the other top 20 riders felt the winning edit fit the 3 categories better than any other edit in the finals.

As far as your statement "as TGR wants in on the NS click factory. BAD." I'm having a hard time putting together a response...TGR put the contest out to anyone and everyone, and lo and behold there was only one single street/jib edit. That seems like the polar opposite of an "NS click factory" especially when that same NS click factory only decided one round, which happened to be the most meaningless round of all.

Like I said, place more blame/surprise on the riders that felt the edit was the best, than TGR who had little to no hand in deciding the winner.

Gah, you know- I'm not sure why I wrote that, it makes no sense. Yes, I am in the belief that this contest was absolutely to attract a "new blood" to the TGR media scene and to sort of piggyback off of NS's success in the media and overall traffic department. No I am not in the belief that there was some kind of conspiracy to suck the 4bi9 dick and win teh interwebz as a result. Honestly not sure why that part spilled over in my brain and made it into a post, that's kind of stupid. Apologies. Final decision, no way- initial decision, absolutely.



But in any case, I'm talking to two personal friends of his. If I were you I'd tell me to fuck off too.

Of course the hard core big mountain skiers in squaw aren't stoked about this, what did you expect. That would be like if someone won the superunknown by skiing lines in chamonix. Some people would be stoked, other people would be pissed, but everyone would have an opinion. You dont need to agree with them to understand where they're coming from.

Deer valley retirement center?  It's based out of Squaw.  Unofficial posts ACTUAL news, not just interviews with stoned park rats.

I also think Mcnutt should have won.  I'll always choose the more well rounded skier over someone who rides specifically park/big mountain (even though this wasn't "park" according to multiple other threads) but I could really care less.

I know this thread is about unofficial but the guys that post on TGR probably could care 2 shits about this contest.  They're too busy in the forums talking about information they need to survive/thrive in the mountains to be concerned with E news of freeskiing...

Im fully aware, it used to be unofficial squaw. however their users seem to have the attitude ive found at posh ski areas full of pussies who think their great. See Deer Valley, Vail, and Beaver Creek.

And they used to have real news, they used to post weekly BC conditions and inbounds conditions once every few days. Now the have literally 0 original content, even during the winter. Also not all park rats are stoned, and quite a few of the Squaw locals blaze a shit ton. Think you should probably get back to Northstar's extreme steeps.
