I really wish you guys would admit that you don't care about those who will be excluded by the measure instead of the feeble attempts to put voter fraud on the front burner as a huge problem because it just quite simply isn't. The argument that it's not broken at all, but let's just fix it anyways despite the FACT that it will ABSOLUTELY exclude ~20 million Americans as it now stands- many of whom actually fought in wars to afford you the right to speak on it now just REEKS of another motive besides our national security which is hardly at stake.
Anybody who can think critically should be able to look at this initiative and see it's a method of exclusion, plain and simple. A bigoted, classist means by which to remove the voice a part of the population holds. I for one think that voting should be made easier not harder. Democracy is only real if EVERYONE gets to take part. The fact that Texas, land of "I love America as long as everyone here is white and christian- oh wait I guess I actually hate what America stands for" would take steps to take these rights away from people should prove a valuable litmus test of whether or not it's needed- of course it isn't. It's just another way for white middle class Texans to feel better about being white middle class texans as if they were the source of all that is pure and good. Basically a decent measure going forth would be thus- if it originated in Texas it's fucking retarded and probably rooted in racism.
The system works fine. Voter fraud is an infinitesimally small percentage of the votes and could never amount to any sway. You're talking about a hundred thousandth of a percent, guys. If you do not understand that, then perhaps you should go back to math class instead of beating your chest about how patriotic you think you are being.
I mean for fuck's sake guys, if you're worried about national security and how the government handles foreign interest (lol @ worrying about illegals banding together to ruin the rest of America's vote), you'd be far better served by going to war against Super PACS and not whether or not poor or elderly people get to vote without state-issued photo ID. Voter fraud just lacks the substance to be a real issue, which anybody who has even the least bit of critical thinking abilities should have no problem deducing... Unless you just fucking hate poor people and think they're what's wrong with America/ want to take away their votes because you think you're better.
It really is a question of motive. Why not go fix something that actually needs fixing? Not like there's any shortage of actual fucking problems in this country.
