Skiers vs. Snowboards

As a boarder, I see a lot of hate toward boarders on here. Just like many of my boarder friends give me shit for being a newschooler and wearing Jiberish. I enjoy watching both, I enjoy riding with both. The funny banter between Saga and Rome got me thinking. I want to know why this is still such an issue? I know a lot of people don't actually care, but I wanna know why some do.

because usually assholes are more vocal than people that don't care.

so maybe there are some haters but I'm pretty sure the majority of people don't care whether you ski or board.

No hate at my mountain. Our park crew is pretty much 50/50 and we all get along just fine and always get stoked on each others tricks. It's pretty damn awesome actually

I've basically never seen hate on snowboarders here, except in jest, like a few posts in this thread. Only people I see hate from at all really are the HCSC people that Steve and I posted about in that thread.
I don't generally ride with boarders, simply because I ride too fast (not to be conceited), but they're still my homies.

Having friends that do the counter of what you do is always good. It seems like people forget that we're all just some regular people trying to have fun sliding down a hill. It's not like people are drastically different from sport to sport

I just don't see why it matters. Things have obviously gotten better but their is still a ridiculous fight between the two. I'm not calling out skiers right now. There are plenty of boarders that hate skiing for no reason at all.

I wouldn't say it is fighting as much as it is just a lovable rivalry. Skiing and snowboarding will forever be linked for the rest of history and for the most part they coexist in peace, or at least for what I see. Long story short, I would say it's not hate as much as it is just kind of pushing each others buttons

I totally agree, for the most part. But people still take it to far. And I don't think Alta is just kidding when they don't allow snowboarding.

As a skier, and a park skier specifically, I do not agree with Alta's view on the subject. I think they are taking it way too seriously and honestly just losing a shit load of potential money

I am starting snowboarding this season and am planning on doing 3-4/5 skiing and boarding. Why? It looks like it's a ton of fun, and it's fucking cool to watch. I started getting tired of ski edits to some degree.

I honestly don't even understand the hate at this point in the game. Freestyle skiing and boarding are pretty tight in terms of progression, plus, I know a much greater number of tools who ski. As long as they aren't the shitty weekend warrior kinda guy, the snowboarding community is pretty cool, same goes for our sport.

I snowboard and completely agree with this, there are so many snowboarders who are gay as hell and honestly I hate pretty much all other snowboarders, especially the fucking techn9ne fags snowboarding is pretty gay because of the way most snowboarders make it. All this coming from a snowboarder

Haha I always though this "feud" between the two sports was utterly retarded, it's very comparable to the feud between Xbox gamers and PS3 gamers. Just a waste of time and something only little kids care about.

If you ever ski at small resorts like sun dance or pebble you get pretty annoyed with the 600,000 kids or tourists that are learning to ski but other than that expierenced boarders are cool by me.
