MBA for Editing?

I believe this guy has the same processor, and FCPX runs similarly to Premiere in my experience

That's really pretty slow. Is it a dual or quad core. If it dual that's is slower then my 5 year old laptop and that is awful to try to edit on, possible but not fun.

I think its doable if you get an external monitor and an external graphics card over thunderbolt for CUDA. Not cheap, but this would allow you to do minimal editing/cuts (or lightroom if you do photos), and then when you get back to your desk, you have a nice big calibrated monitor and enough power. Most of the drivers etc. are somewhere in the beta stage. Unless you really need it to be portable though, I would lean towards a macbook pro, at least until most of the kinks are sorted out. Also, you will not get 12 hours of battery trying to edit on that, you might get close to that with netflix, but not for editing

honestly if you are looking for a super light setup with great battery life I'd just wait for the new 13" retina MBP. It'll run you a little more than the MBA, but will have a much faster haswell chip in it. honestly the retina MBP 13" is only marginally bigger than the 13" mba, and is much better in terms of processing.

This is what I was thinking too. The new retina MBPs are almost as thin and have alot more power.

As for everyone bitching about process power, it really doesn't matter THAT much if you're doing pretty simple editing. Now, GPU is a concern IMO and only being able to have 8gb of ram is also an issue.

When is this supposed to debut?
