if you're going to go with Modern Vampires of the City (posted earlier) go with Vampire Weekends first two albums as well (Vampire Weekend, Contra)

It took like 4 or 5 years to make the album and it shows, every song feels overworked, the vocals are muffled by the enormous amount of synthesizers, and the album really just does not come together well at all. They are riding on the coat tails of good british bands like like radio head and passing their sound off as "progressive" when it is really just hyped up teeny bopper music.

Was discussing this statement with my friend, this is what he said - what he (Spagett+) says, if looking through objective eyes, is spot on. But it's about the overall timbre of the music and the 'new' places they take their music. Just because many dream theatre songs mix their keyboards and bass really low doesn't mean their technical proficiency isn't any less true. I think what I'm trying to say is that the way the music is presented is different from the way someone would prefer doesn't mean the music itself is any worse.

I remember when this thing came out two years ago and I decided to ignore it past a couple of plays of the itunes previews. Now that I am more versed in what Cam & Vado are doing, I decided to purchase it, and I can say with confidence that this record is one of the best raw hip-hop albums from the last few years:

Good bars and instrumentals for days. Few iffy, sort-or comercial-sounding joints, but all in all; great.
