Alright, I noticed there is so much stuff on here involving wu-tang clan and so many people love it. I know who they are and stuff and I love rap, but why are there so many people that love wu-tang up in here?

I know. That was written really quickly, and I couldn't really think of another way it could've been worded. Point being; Wu-Tang is only as valuable as the 36 Chambers, which means it is the only reason for their critical acclaim.

No, I'm just talking about them together as a group. I would put The Purple Tape ahead of most other albums on my list, so I'm not refuting their solo careers. I was simply stating that without the success of the 36 Chambers, Wu-Tang would be no where on the map compared to where they are or have been in the past. Sure they've put out more than one "good" album, I just feel like they haven't put out anything that could be given legendary status, beyond 36 Chambers, and solo projects like OB4Cl, Liquid Swords, and whatnot.

yes they are starting to become irrelevant to the public eye. but new album coming soon should see how that turns out. and ghost is still killing it, 12 reasons to die was incredible and jimmy fallon even had ghost play on his show.12RTD sold alot more than i expected from a 40 year old rapper. and RZA made a movie too. meth is workin on blackout 3. u god just came out with keynote speaker (it was kind of shitty though).
 
so yeah they are technically irrelevant but still are relevant in many ways. so yeah fuck you.

1. 12 Reasons to Die sold 23,000 copies. Nothing to be excited about, not even in this day and age
2. Of course they would be on Jimmy Fallon and do shows like Rock The Bells, a lot of them were Def Jam legends and they aren't really going anywhere, but as the whole clan together, they are really far from relevance in the actual hip hop industry
3. RZA making a movie has nothing to do with furthering the Wu-Tang clan, especially when he played a pivotal role in the falling-out the group has been locked in for the past 10 years.
4. Blackout 2 was completely slept on, despite being pretty good, and they've been working on Blackout 3 for about 3 years, so there is no reason why BO3 won't follow in BO2's footsteps
5. A lot of people were saying one of the main highlights of Keynote Speaker was the one verse Styles P was given
6. I completely hate the idea of holograms, so do a lot of other people.


The little bit of relevance they have is based off the fact that they are hip hop legends. It has nothing to do with any real relevance in the hip hop industry in this day and age.

This makes it sound like you're saying they have had no influence on the industry. Which is flat out wrong. Dirty mef is like 42 years old man. At some point, the legends of yesteryear know they have to step aside and let the young guns put out albums every two years. They're working on new shit, which I'm super stoked about cause I love their style, but as time goes on they're not going to be pop culture anymore. It doesn't mean they're any less of greats or that they weren't a key part of the hip-hop movement.

People, myself included, love it because of the culture. To be honest I like their music, but the real reason I love them is because of their following and the way that they approached the rap game 20 years ago with a plan to reach the top, and then flawlessly executed it. As far as I can tell they are the only group who has truly made it, and still stuck to the street roots which made them famous

In his defence, it gets frustrating. As far as I know, both me and DirkDiggler. were talking about the guys' own presence in the rap game, nothing really about their influence or their other ventures. No, those things aren't the same, and it cannot be argued that they are. It becomes annoying once person after person after person completely misunderstands what we are saying and trys to argue with us, giving us examples that can relate more easily to the topics I listed above rather than what the argument is actually about.

Well Wu-Tang's lyrics actually mean something as opposed to all the other stupid hiphop/rap these days (TGOD, YMCMB, etc.) and inspired different rapping styles to this day so yeah I'd say they are relevant in the music industry. I wouldn't say they are as relevant as something like say NWA, but they are still pretty damn relevant.

Who cares if the lyrics mean something? If the beat is knocking, and the artist can flow, construct a good song, and throw some emotion in there, lyrics don't mean shit. I look at them as something extra an artist can have, but isn't necessary at all. If you're really fiending for knowledge and whatever BS, go read a book or do a sudoku puzzle, instead of complaining that something like music, which is more commonly considered to be a means of expressing the emotions of the speaker, lacks logic.

-his music's ability to draw out your "third eye" (enlightened ability to see the big picture)
