is is true that ski patrol gets to ride free anywhere? or is at the other mtns discretion?
im not totally positive but i think its, if they wear their jacket and gear and will respond to a situation as if its at their home hill.

I dont think that its true, at least the whole 'if they where their jackets and help out thing'. What happens is on every mountain there is different protocol on dealing with situations and if you have some dude from a different hill who is not aware of the protocol for that mtn. there could be issues. Both leagally and in caring for severly injured people.
depends on what the mountain has... if the mountain has private pro patrol then sometimes not... for example in quebec/ontario if you are CSPS and wear your jacket and check in with the local patrol you can ski on any mountain that has CSPS... i.e. sauveur, st. anne, etc, but not tremblant. at least that's what it was a few years ago when i did it.
Depends on the resort but any ski patroler in Ohio can ski at any other resort in Ohio for free
From what I understand you ski for free at your home resort. Discounts usually when you travel, and sometimes resorts will let you ski free. Don't forget about pro-form, avy training, ect...
in Canada if your csps theirs a universal system and standardize training so one place is not all that different from another and believe me it is true because i'v done it.
I believe that it also depends on wether you are a paid or volunteer patroler. Many Ski Patrol are volunteer, and I do not believe they get the same benefits as paid patrolers. In the US, I am pretty sure that the paid patrolers, who are with NSP (National Ski Patrol) do typically ski for free at other areas, so long as they have an NSP patrol. However, I believe they do have to be wearing their NSP jacket, and are technically 'on call' if the area they are skiing at needs them for anything. I believe that typically volunteer and privatized patrolers benefits are typically at the areas discretion.

thats sweet sign me up

Ya it depends on where you go but most mountains or hills will give you a discount if your skiing that day.

Krashed, most ski areas will provide some sort of discount or courtesy to almost anyone who works in the industry, just some people get taken care of better than others.

no no no usually you can get free trips and shit for classes you may have to take or what not. and when you go to a different resort and wear your jacket you are a patroller there then. so if you help them patrol they let u ski for free
Some people talk it, some people live it, some people walk it-some people give it... deal with it.

land of the free???@#! haha right... free to the power of the people in uniform
skiin', smokin', snackin', sexin', sleepin'... all anyone needs in life
Yup in most cases they give you a discount for being a ski patroller, usually if the ski area has other ski areas owned by the same company you can ski there free. But ski patrol isn’t all about skiing you gotta help out people and do a lot of paperwork.
I ski patrolled for one season didn’t like it to much, couldn’t drink beer and ski, and had to get jump certified to even jump.
Maby when I’m 50 I will do it again!
As for going and ski patrolling at other areas would be scary, because you don’t know where anything is and any of there protocols.
if i'm ever a ski patrol dude i will be mad chill. I wont get mad at kids for speeding and will accept bribes
depends if you are pro patrol or just a volunteer

Ya I wasnt a dick at all, but I hated fealing like I was a cop or something!
i was skiing for free in various resorts when i was a patroller. the only thing keeping me away from doing it was the fact that i had to wear that patroller suit

Ya depens on what kind of patroler you where and what affilations your mountian has.
But dont sign up just so you can ski everyehere. IF you are a volentear a lot of places make you patrol a certain number of days.
