I've been watching some sick trailers, and it dawned on me that some trailers are better than the movie as a whole. Not that the movie isn't great, but there seems to be a few where the trailer sets the bar so high, that the actual movie can't live up to it.

Controversial example, but i stand by it

You opinion completely degrades the entire movie. Did you even watch the movie? its not about ski porn, its about the life of a legendary skier, if you cant appreciate that then get the fuck out of here.

Gonna have to agree with OP, was offended that the wolf shot cut at the same spot in the movie that it did in the trailer with no explanation

Few words was the pinnacle of ski movies over the last few years. It shattered the mold for what a great movie is, and it was focused on one of the greatest skiers of all time. Yet after the movie was over i felt like something was missing. After the Candide Kamera episodes and the trailer i felt like there could have been "more". Im not saying i wanted to see 2 hours of candide ski porn, but a lot of the shots were old footage from his early days and from the candide kamera episodes. The trailer led me to believe i would be seeing something that was going to be an unreachable height for candide (or anyone else) to ever reach again. And i felt like it wasn't quite there. I don't know what else could have been done, it just didn't live up to my unreasonable expectations.

It was a tame wolf, they weren't gonna wanna say that, but what'd you want from it? pillow drop to wolf tap?

and OP the history was the best part of the movie, although the newer stuff was pretty awesome too, especially the shoot with all his buddies.

great thread idea but you just had to pick candide's doc didn't you??

why don't we just forget you said aaanything even somewhat negative about candide and continue on with this thread that has potential (if only because there are some really sick trailers out there to be posted)

i havn't seen the movie.... but the trailer of brain massage kinda pissed me off. why would you release a trailer now, for a movie that comes out a year and a half from now. seems illogical.

I'm probably gonna get shit on, but I feel like the Sunny trailer was really good where as the movie was good but not GREAT. Still better than After Dark however. My 2 favorite ski movies are probably the 86 and Eye Trip. Probably Eye Trip though, it just gets me stoked like nothing else.

It is a two-year project, the movie is not done yet. The trailer was a way to show what Nipwitz is up to and hopefully attract sponsors to join the second year.

I couldn't agree more, but I wasn't looking for some sort of untouchable skiing, I was looking for a real in depth story, like coming out of the movie i knew not one extra thing about candide. I had already seen all the shots in the movie and heard all the stories, there was nothing new there, it was dope to have all that content in one place of course, but candide being my favorite skier, i wanted more, not that candide fell short, i feel the director of the film fell short. after watching the trailer i nearly shit my pants, when i walked out of the premiere, i thought, "shit i wish someone else had made that movie" cuz i really just didnt do much for me, and of course everyone else i went with told me it was the best movie they ever saw, but i think the OP is right, wasnt as good as it could have been

I thought the Outerlimits-esk straight run into resort booter shots was some pretty untouchable shit. I could be bias, cause that's my shit, but thats my favorite part of the movie by far. Also, if you thought something was missing from the movie.....just watch the POV edit that dropped a few weeks ago.

and byron, the only thing i'm gonna disagree with you about is that few words was not the pinnacle of ski films of the past few years, in my opinion, it was all.i.can. now that is some real filmmaking. you ever watched that shit stoned off your ass? phew, don't even get me started...

hahaha yea mac we watched it in byron's cinema 3 times in a row. Fucking unbelievable. Best intro i think ive ever seen, and we all know about jp's street segment. Into The Mind better live up to its trailer...

I have to say i came really looking for either a real insightful story into candide's past and present life, or untouchable unseen skiing. And i saw bits of both uncomfortably cramed into one movie.
