to clarify here, we traded spots with Dylan Thompson as that feature/location is very off the beaten path and they happened to tag that wall as there is a ton of graffiti there. I dont know what you are getting at in saying we are on their dick or pretending to not be on it, we get a lot of inspiration from FODT and I dont really know how thats a problem. to be honest the shot is in there because it was just a good glide/lifestyle shot.

dale's edit is what skiing has been wanting to be for years. so fucking sick.. utah gaps with next level shit, super burly urban with tonnns of speed, just generally balls to the wall and scary shit left and right damn that was good

haven't watched the others yet but i have a hard time imagining anything topping that right now

Except he doesn't land most of the bigger drops he put in the edit, the size which others in the contest stomped. You know, all the ones cut before you see him ride away...

Decent skier, cool to see some mountaineering (not to mention ass and titties) involved, but there are people at most resorts with any sort of big mountain scene going harder than that and sticking it on most pow days.

Anyways, it's astonishing that it looks like some people who did enter put up a terrible thought out gopro edit with 100K. Not like they had a chance, but at least for such a big competition don't make it embarrassing for yourself; similar to how I didn't think when I quoted that line from Nick...

I thought it was certain death for McNutt when he did that butter 5 on that super exposed cliff, but no. He rode it away with style. His edit really blew me away. McNutt's style reminds me a bit of Wiley Miller's style. Stylish tech tricks in the backcountry mixed in with gnarly lines that I would never hit. Props.

After watching the edits some more, Mcnutt is definitely my favorite. Yes he goes huge and throws down bangers (butter cork 7 and 180 after that to start edit). But he's too damn clean, I am amazed how he pulls most of that off and makes it look so effortless. Here's some more of him that depicts his smooth style:

With all of this being said I think Dale is deserving of the win. Eheath said it, everyone of his shots is really high caliber. I am really impressed with the filming too, good stuff 4bi9! This Colter fellow slays as well and I'm glad I became aware of him through this contest.

True enough. But it's still one of those things where he said he wasn't going to use music, didn't use music, then at the end it said "music by Dan Sanford." I'd bitch about the lack of detail and thought but seeing how I dun fucked up, up the page while quoting Nick, I simply can't... At least my post isn't getting voted on for a 100K prize doe.

One last thing to all the retard editors out there:

When you put in a shot that cuts out before the landing, everyone automatically assumes that the person crashed. It doesn't matter if you're saving the shot for whatever shitty film you're putting out or how "insane" the shot is, the rule of thumb is that if you cut out before the landing, there was no landing so it doesn't fucking matter.

Dale's edit was possibly the greatest five minutes of skiing I've ever watched. The backcountry features, the urban, the uncommon tricks like a cork 1080 and switch cork 1260, the editing, the gnarliness of everything - GOD DAMN. My jaw dropped probably close to ten times while watching that.

Kinda sad that I spoiled all his 4bi9 shots for myself but w/e, I was going to see them at some point.

Dale gets this one pretty easily, it's one of the better edits (if not the best edit) and he's got the popularity behind him (it is a voting contest after all). The wallride to redirect was sick, and the huge wallride to flat, not to mention the roof antics and some of that backcountry stuff was really impressive for a guy you don't normally see in the BC.

Then why do they cut out before he lands? TO MAKE IT SUSPENSEFUL?! I think we can all agree that no matter how good someone looks just before they land, it doesn't automatically mean they're riding away from it.

It's childish and stupid to cut before someone lands and there's only one rationale that makes sense... BECAUSE HE ATE

i actually agree. there were a few times in multiple edits where someone sent it off a cliff, looked good in air but when they land it's a cloud of snow and they cut it out before you can even tell if he rode away or not. it's nice to know they landed

or you can just appreciate the fact that some of those cliff were gnarly enough as is, and just sending them is a feat in itself. sure they may not have stomped them but going balls out and hucking themselves off of them is pretty ridiculous.

Yeah I'm going to have to disagree with this one too. Sure it takes balls to jump off some big stuff but I don't think people are looking for stunt men. They're looking for talented skiers. That means they can hit the biggest stuff AND ride away clean from it.

I don't know if its an actual reason for not showing landings but what I have been referring to would be the case in which only 1 angle was available for the shot and the landing couldn't be shot. Or in the case of say a quick montage of a person hitting the same jump. To keep the flow of the shots matching the audio someone might put several clips of the person mid trick back to back to back without showing the landing for each one. In this case I think its safe to assume all those tricks were landed.

There are without a doubt times when it is obvious the landing has been cut out because the trick wasn't landed well or at all. I think it's pretty easy to get an idea of whether or not a person landed the trick by the moments leading up to the landing.
