Best backpack for skiing

So Im looking for a new backpack for all my avi gear, etc thats around 15-20L. So far I've looked at the dakine heli pro dlx, but does anyone have any other brands that have worked well for them?

Right now I have dakine heli pack 11. It works great. Waterproof, slim but holds everything I need and it's durable.

Also not to be a bitch but there always good, inexpensive backpacks on the clymb.

the Columbia pack I keep all my patrol gear in is excellent, it is comfortable and i can hardly tell its there while skiing.

I think this is the closest one

Another vote for this. Deceptively large while staying slim, the only things I don't like about it is that there is only one main pocket and the top compression straps don't really do anything.

this christmas i got the oakley snowmad 20 pack as gift. i've never been big on oakley products before this but all i can say is good things about this pack. it has diagnoal as well as a frame ski carries and has room enough for a shovel, a camelback, a probe, and a couple spare layers. not super roomy (as it is only 20L) but it gets the job done well. i would highly recommend it!

oh and it comes in other colors, this is just the one i have

Black Diamond Avalung Bandit, volume is 16L, and its BD so product quality is on point, and lets face it, you cant put a price on your life. BD have a really large choice of volumes, so if 16L looks to small afterall, just take a look at the next biggest pack up. Which I think is the Agent at 20L and the Covert at 24L.

they are for holding a shovel head, but they do an okay job with a helmet

I like my Line Remote pack. Stays out of the way but it can fit everything I have ever had to put in it.

Just curious, are avalungs really worth it? I know that it is always better to be more prepared, but does it actually end up being that useful? Don't most packs get ripped of in the case of an avalanche? And the rare chance that they don't, how do you get that thing to your mouth while buried? Lastly, does it actually work that well? Again, i have nothing against it, I'm just curious

If you can get it into your mouth and keep it there it might help, but now the big trend is for airbags

Yeah if you have $700 to drop on a pack.. Don't get me wrong, your life is worth that price but it's hard to justify that kind of spending when you're a broke ski bum

I think you guys mean ABS, avalung packs are not super expensive. You can get the Bandit with an avalung sub 100 from Evo.

I really dig the BD (debatable avalung value aside)--I have the Covert. Its prob bigger than what you would just need for shovel/probe, but a good size for touring day trips. I don't know if it is on the smaller sizes or models before 2012, but mine has this kinda cool 'suspension technology' so the straps move with your body...its kind of hard to explain but I think BD has a video that shows it.
