Bag boy at a country club. It's an awesome job cuz all i do is clean the members golf clubs and drive golf carts around all day. Working in the sun is always a plus too.
i move to Australia, and do the snow season there, as well as the snow season in whistler, in the 3 months that i don't ski per year I usually get any shitty job to keep the cash flow going.
But this off season I have a job workong for Volkl/Marker/Dalbello, doing product distribution in all of the Australian stores. yea my life is pretty fucking awesome right now
i thought it was going to be trail building but it turns out that was 125 dollar per week stipend so fuck that shit. maybe ill try to work some road crew shit.
My favourite ever summer job was working in a skate shop. I did that part-time and then throughout the summers from being 15 to 18. Then I got my first 'real' job working full-time at an accountancy firm, Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm wearing suits everyday. Reality is a bitch.
worked in a grocery store in the past. This summer it will mostly be doing errands for my parents, hopefully some small photo or video projects (events or music videos, maybe sell some prints), and maybe some volunteer work. I get home late because of study abroad, get shoulder surgery less than 2 weeks after, and then I leave mid August for school for RA training, so that doesn't leave a whole lot of "traditional" options for me
i work at a local pool store. mostly helping clueless people keep their pools from exploding. on the side i do landscaping and i also do odd jobs with a general contractor. 8 bucks an hour at the pool store, 10 an hour under the table with the contractor, and i split the landscaping 50/50 with a friend.
i clean up seaweed on my local lake. 8 to 5, 5 days a week. Minimum wage, but i on friday's i get paid 12.50 an hour. I'll rake in around 4500 at the end of the summer
just a quick question for all you experienced workers. Is it ok to get a job at some small place like restaurants during the summer and then just quit when skiing comes around? Im really considering doing this because i turn 16 in June. My parents have agreed to help with gas. I just need to make enough over the summer for skiing the next year and some extra gas money
Absolutely, I've done that. Just don't tell them you're planning to get a job until ski season starts. Tell them you're looking for a job so you can make some spending money over the summer, and potentially continue during the fall depending on how your schoolwork is going.
a lot of restaurants near me hire seasonal help, because they are a lot busier in the summer, and if you could stay for some of the school year, they may or may not need you. Just be clear with them what your intentions are, could be a good off season gig. I worked at a grocery store for two summers, and my boss would let me come back for some shifts when I was home on break (and not skiing) to get some extra cash, which was very convenient
Thank you. I would be able to start late april - early may until november. I was just wondering if it would look bad on a resume saying that I only had 6 month jobs at a time and then I would quit?
Not at all, especially if you're 15. Entry level jobs get so many applications and resumes handed in that they can easily find someone to replace you, its not a big deal. 6 months is plenty of time anyways, I've had lots of jobs for shorter periods than that. Just do your job, give them at least 2 weeks notice before you quit, and make sure you ask your boss if you can get a letter of reference or if you can use them as a reference for other jobs. Chances are they'll be happy to do it.
Just a typical lanscaper, going to be mowing all summer though. My boss started me at $11.50/hr and lets me work overtime if I want to. All the guys I work with are chill too so it's fun.
Work at a Marina on Glen Lake in Michigan... Good Morning America recently proclaimed the surrounding area "The Most Beautiful Place In America" based on a public poll.... (not to brag)... working at a marina is great though. Outside all day, pumping gas or checking out boats/jet skis... after hours we go out and wake surf and stuff. Meet lots of people. It is pretty prime
