Parents who refuse to physically discipline their kids

Are the cause of this extremely spoiled generation. I was on a 4 hr plane trip and in the seat behind me was this 2 yo girl and she kicked my seat as hard as she coild like "literally" 100 times (100) during the course of the flight. Whenever she kicked it really hard the parents ditting next to her just scolded her verbally, like trying to reason with a retarded fucking 2 yo saying shit like "stop it, there is a man in the seat in front of you and you need to stop kicking now..."
Did she stop? Fuck no... Im just sick of parents who are like this , thinking their kid is so precious that they cant give them a little slap to make them stop kicking the fuckimg seat. Like what do these parents think? Like " oh sorry about our daughter but hehe what can you do? Hehe". As if their daughter is just to be accepted by people as a public inconvenience that everybody just has to sack up and deal with as if its their problem and not the parents problem to fix. I wanted to slap the parents for not intervening... I mean how hard is it to get a kid to stop kicking the fucking seats? In addition this kid would scream randomly as loud as it could every invmce in a while. Like a blood curdling scream.
I guess this is just the way america is, with everubody afraid of lawyers amd child abise charges or something. Really makes us look like a pathetic country when youve got kids like this girl, spoiled beyond sll fucking recognition, thinking they can do whatever they want because the only scolding they get is the parents speaking in a harsh tone. These parents are so fucking stupid they dont realize words mean nothing if they dont carry the promise of force. Fuck sll soft parents like these. You suck

I'm pretty sure if the parents hit their kid, she would've started to cry, and personally a kick on my seat is a lot better than a screaming kid for the rest of the flight... But that's just my take.

I got slapped a little but as a kid. Only when i directly disobeyed my parents in front of them so it was a well deserved spanking or slap on the hands with a ruler. It surelyw wasnt excessive an 95% of the time my parents just scolded me and that was good enough. I only got spanked when i was bein a "little shit".

ok, first of all, if you actually think slapping a kid at the age of two is going to make them quiet down and relax, you clearly have no idea how kids age and mature. 2 year olds are practically babies man, they throw tantrums and are developmentally unable to explain/understand their needs or the consequences of their actions. they can be disciplined and taught how to behave well, but slapping a 2 yo on a plane is a one way ticket to a long, loud temper tantrum, one that everyone else is going to have to endure as well.

second, fuck off. parents have the most emotionally exhausting job in the world, you think they weren't embarrassed too? you think you actually know more about this kid and how to get it to behave a certain way than their fucking parents? they have to put up with this 24/7 and manage to keep calm, yet you are annoyed to the point of wanting to hit a child within one flight? clearly you would better moderate a child's behavior. get off your high horse man, flying isn't a public right that everyone else should make comfortable for just for you, its something they payed for just as much as you did. actually probably more because your entitled attitude makes like you're 17 at most, probably closer to 15.

and most studies have shown that kids who are not spanked tend to turn out slightly better than the ones that are. i don't judge parents for spanking, but i definitely don't judge them for refusing to. you suck op

I got slapped but I personally know that if i were a parent and my kid was acting out in public i would find a private location to spank him. Like all kids act like little shitstains sometimes and we all did.

I can't stand those things. And it really depends on the kid to be honest some kids learn to shut up when they get hit. Others learn before that. No one parents their kid the same as another because everyone is different. It's the parents fault for not controlling their kid but maybe hitting them wouldn't have worked either

This shit just pissed me right the fuck off. I got the shit beat out of me as a child, and I can tell you for a fact that I will never do that to my kid. I was afraid to come home every day, especially after a report card, and every time I heard my dads car come down the driveway I got upset. Honestly if you don't have the strength to raise a kid without beating them don't have kids

I think spanking is a good parenting technique, but not something that should be used all the time. I remember my parents spanked me a few times but that was only because I was being a really disrespectful little shit. Otherwise they would just verbally rape me until they got the message across.

hmm i heard the opposite, that children who are physically disciplined are more successful later in life.
anyway, i think some kids need it and some dont, there are some kids who can be such a pain that its simply better parenting to be physical, because those kids probably need it to know when they stepped over the line.
a good friend of mine was never spanked or anything as a kid, grew up being the biggest ass hole to anyone of authority, while it was funny then, today in his 20's the guy just does not know when to stop and it definitely effects him badly.

personally, i dont like parents who refuse to physically discipline their kids even if they clearly need to. like with OP's scenario. a 2 year old who's not responding to verbal discipline is certainly going to respond to physical discipline, doesnt mean you have to slap the kid in the face, but grabbing their arm, or what worked for me, grabbing their face, works really well. cause yeah you cause the kid lots of pain it could make the situation worse.

speaking of this, when i went to south africa a couple years ago i noticed how extremely well behaved the kids there are, and how much physical discipline the parents use, i remember on the plane this womans kid who couldnt have been older than like 1, started crying, she smaked it, the kid stopped, happened multiple times on the flight.

Brilliant! Where were these people on my flight back from san francisco. Also had one group in front of me where the fairly young grandpa was worse than the 3 year old kid.

I think people who throw there seats back just because they go back are rude anyway but this dude kept slamming back against his seat. Finally had to explain to him that he was being a massive douche and that the 3 year old had better plane riding skills.

Luckily found an open row at the back of the plane and got a little nap time away from screaming children and douchey granpas.

Physical discipline is a tricky subject. IMO, physical discipline has it's applications and can be good for a kid in the long run, IF USED CORRECTLY, but its not to be confused with actual child abuse. If the parent hits his/her kid b/c they are mad, then its child abuse. There is a big difference.

i honestly can say I fucking hate those types of kids. Fortunately most kids ARE well behaved. My dad used to spank me when i was super bad, my mom would wash out my mouth with soap for saying really bad things, and I looking back it all seems fair. It was always more of a scare tactic then a pain tactic.

In my opinion, it is better to build respect from your kids, and always explain the reason to do. not do something. That way as soon as a parent says something, the kid does it with the knowledge that there is a good reason for it. But yes screaming baby parents on planes are awful people. Especially when they think its cute.

This. If you do things with your kids that involve responsibility like shooting skiing etc. it is less of a problem, because kids respect their parents.

Exactly. The aim is to teach them to my WANT to do these things not because thu are afraid if getting hit, but because they know the reason's why it is not the appropriate thing to do.
