My friend was running in it and his family and my best friend and his family were there watching him. They were on boyleston street 15 minutes before the explosions, my friend finished the race and they all went to meet him at a park and then heard the explosions...
HOLY FUCK! I was at the Prudential center about 100 yards away from the patio and Boylston st. where the bombs were. My friend and I were walking toward Ben and Jerry's to get ice cream and all of the sudden we heard screams and two muffled blasts followed by a title wave of screaming people running. This was the scariest thing I've ever witnessed. We ran into a jewelry store where an armed guard closed the door and we hid behind the jewelry counter. At the time we still had no idea what the fuck was happening. We waited as hundreds of people ran screaming by. Then the security guard got on his radio and this was followed by an alarm in the building calling fro evacuation.
Then we decided to head on our way to Hyne's Convention Center T-Stop and head home as soon as possible. On our way we saw at least 20 police cars and more ambulances rushing in. The runners of the marathon were all stopped and there were security guards and cops directing us in waves of people out of the area.
We were turned down from the T and told to walk to Fenway after still witnessing 5+ helicopters flying overhead and tons more police vehicles.
I was worried when everybody rushed to aid the wounded after the 1st explosion that the 2nd one was gonna happen right there. This is some scary shit. Confirmed for bombs both of them CNN is saying. So this was most certainly an attack
damn iv got a cousin who ran the marathon, just got off the phone with him so i know he is good. but he said that was the most surreal/scariest moment of his life, he wasnt sure if he was dreaming/seeing things due to exhaustion. i couldnt even imagine being in that situation.
holy shit guys, I cant express my thoughts going out to you all right now, I can totally understand you freaking out and being in a fucked up condition..
I am shitting my pants and I am half way across the world from you.
my best wishes and hopefully not too many condolences to anyone effected!
This is the one thing I have been thinking, thankfully there was poor planning by whoever planted the bombs. As of now it seems that the results could have been much worse.
"Penske rental truck attempted to gain access to the area, said it was loaded with medical supplies... We turned it away, can someone try to track it down"
At the time no one in Boston knew what was going on, mass panic and everyone leaving. Luckily everyone I know is okay so far, but this is still very shocking and amazing.
