Yes, this is another laptop recommendation thread.
I'm looking for a laptop for every day use, and also CS6 and AE. Any laptop that will play the clips smoothly while working with them during editing is all I'm looking for, rendering doesn't have to be blisteringly quick, but it would be a bonus. I'm on a tight budget, sub $700, but the cheaper the better. Also I'm planning to get a refurbished model to get more performance formy money. Does anyone have any advice? Would a speedy dual i5 or i7 suffice, or are the demands of CS6 such that it needs a quad core?
I can run CS6, FCP and all the goodies on my macbook pro from 08 just fine. It's not super fast but with 8GB of ram its great. look for some refurbished macs maybe? Also, >8GB RAM is very nice. Makes a huge difference with adobes products as they suck it up hardcore. I have 20GB on my desktop and it takes all of it when I let it

Does anyone have any thoughts on the capabilities of the Dell 17r? I7 quad core, 8 gb of ram, and a 1 gb Nvidia graphics card.
I dunno that laptop but from those specs it sounds good enough
