depends on what kind of video style you are looking for. With a shoulder mount your footage will be a lot more stable than if you were to just hold the camera, but there will still be quite a bit of shake/vibrations (this isn't always a bad thing its just a style/preference thing). For a similar price (about #300 is what you said if I am not mistaken) you could get a glidecam HD1000 (what I use) which works beautifully. There is a bit of a learning curve with it, you cant just pull it outa the box and start getting silky smooth footage, but once you master it and get everything balanced the footage looks incredible.
