somewhat unrelated, but a couple of weeks ago i went outside with my friend to smoke and right when i looked at the sky a shooting star came up from the horizon. it was way tight.

Often when i look at the sky i ask myself, where did it all begin? What happened at the beginning of time and then what happened before that? How cool is mustve been to see the big bang from far off and witness the creation of the universe. It also boggles me that our sun may be just another stat to another advanced human like being on another planet far off. Though ill mever meet this other 'person', hes thinking the same things i am and that just fascinates me beyone belief!

kinda unrelated to yours. but i once went into a senior home and drugged the mashed potatoes. once they were all out i had my way with the majority of them. the nurses didnt seem to care and a few joined in after a while. after they woke up, they didnt know where they were, so i guess thats like being abducted by aliens... kinda...

YES. My older brother and I were taking out the trash one night, when in the distance there was this HUGE triangle in the sky near the other side of town, hovering, with the lights first flashing, then starting circling in colors around the triangle....my bro and I were speechless til he ran inside to get my mom. No joke as soon as he turned to run the thing disappeared. Right in front of my eyes. Gone. NO idea what it was, but def the strangest thing to happen to me.

Ok. I'm not shitting you.
I live in Reno and driving one day to go to ride my dirtbike I was on the highway and saw like a super bright triangle out if the corner of my eye, looked and as I was turning it disappeared. 2 of my friends said they saw it too. It was probably about 6 months.

hahah yes I'm so happy there is a thread on this. It's pretty crazy thinking about all the things that people see. I think it's an irrational conclusion to say that we are the only form of life in our universe or farther than the Milky Way Galaxy. Thats almost like taking a glass and scooping up ocean water and saying there are no whales in the ocean. I find it hard to believe that with so many religions saying nearly the same thing (gods that came from the sky or heavens) they didn't see the same thing. It's safe to say that I am a firm believer in the ancient astronaut theory. I'm born into a Catholic family but I was never fully able to comprehend what everyone was determined to believe. Looking further into other peoples beliefs and thoughts I found that the theory of intelligent design made the most sense. We have come far as a species (one may contest this) that we have grown to believe the things our ancestors believed. By not removing religion or might I say the belief in a higher power, we must at least consider that God (and Jesus) were not of this earth. It's stated that God (as well as Jesus) had come from the heavens (the sky) and created us in their image. It's difficult to think about for some but this to me is a clear indication that we were manipulated somehow. Some people conclude to the Evolution Theory, but with hundreds of thousands of years of "evolution", our basic conciousness has only grown exponentially in the past 50,000 years. Even though these are all theories, I believe it to be connected directly to our gods and it will be evident sooner or later that our species will be given an answer to what our past civilations were seeing. i completely agree with you, and the biggest question i always have is that all of those societies were talking about the same thing like you said, "beings from the sky" but it seems as if those accounts just stop, or at least that's what it seems. i always wondered why these encounters seemed to just vanish after a certain point. i know they're still around today, but it's to a much less credible extent and is considered such an impossible thought today, people are so quick to shoot down any idea of alien life.

at the lake when I was young there was a red hovering light, it just stayed in one place for a while and didn't move, so it wasn't a firework or airplane as my parents said, then after a while it seemed to back up and go higher and get smaller all at the same time and disappeared without a sound. Very creepy experience

Time is a really tough thing for the human brain to think about. I'd say of all the things about the universe, physics, and space/time, time is the hardest one to comprehend. Then there are those physicists out there who don't even think time exists in the first place.

Seriously though, time is crazy. The way I see it, time had to pre-date matter. If we are to believe the big bang theory, time had to exist before the big bang, or the big bang wouldn't of happened, but if so - where and what was time? Where did it come from? Can it be measured? and if so, Can it be stopped?

i feel like time exists as we think of it, whether it's how long it takes to get somewhere, or how many feet til this, etc etc. time is a concept used by everything, we just have our own takes on it. animals know when to hibernate, while it may be instinctual it still is based on the concept of time. from when the sun rises til the sun sets, that is a biological clock that most every creature in the universe bases it's daily routine on whether they're out in day or night. just my two cents though

Well, yes, but no. "Time" allows everything to happen. Every species perceives 'time' differently, but that isn't exactly what 'time' is all about. Time isn't necessarily about how long it takes to go from point A to point B, but instead it's about allowing you to leave point A at all.

Time is what allows atoms to move. Without time, nothing can move, change, exist. Electrons moving around the Nucleus is the simplest way of understanding the concept of time. Without time, the electrons would not orbit, they wouldn't move at all.

Now, with all that being said, there are some scientists who believe that time doesn't exist.

I totally know what you mean about how the occurrences suddenly come to a cease. It really makes me wonder why they have just come to a complete halt and were not experiences any events that are nearly as important as what has happened in the ancient past. Such events that our ancestors were alive to experience had such a deep effect and stain on their lives that most of the civilizations that lived through them, all found the events to be so important that they must have put them into text for there descendants to read about. If you look into the Zoo Hypothesis in my last reply to the thread, it states the possibility that occurrences with extraterrestrial life has vanished or a lack of more "public" events is due to the morals of civilizations not of this Earth. These morals must have been thought out thoroughly, because in the passage written in that link (my last reply) it comes to the conclusion that intelligent life believes that once they have jump started our conscious life on Earth, they must allow for natural development politically, morally, economically, and advancement in technology. The fact of it all is, our life here on earth is not yet ready to handle (if their is any) truth about life outside of our small planet. I firmly believe this as it would shatter us. All that we have ever known would be brushed underneath the carpet and life a we know it would be more of a mission for our species rather than all of us trying to coexist with each other and make a better life for only our personal families..
