LINE CHRONICS 2013 SNAPPED (BOTH)

Firstly i know that this should be in gear talk but i thought more people would see it here.

A couple weeks ago i was hitting jumps (about 40-45 feet) in the slushy spring snow. Because the snow was getting slower as the day went by it was getting harder and harder to get speed for the jumps. i knuckled and double ejected down the landing. When i got up to collect my skis i noticed that both of the tails had snapped. Just to clarify what had happened both of the tails snapped on the same jump in the same spot, about half way between the binding and tail. So i took my ski to my local ski shop where i bought the skis, who sent them into line. Line emailed me today and told me that i “apparently”snapped them the wrong way.  I have several friends and my ski coach that saw my crash. I way about 130 pounds and am 5’5, my dins were at 6. I was riding the 164 length. I had only had the ski for 6 MONTHS.

The point of this thread was to get advice on what I should do now and has this ever happened to you where line didn’t respect THEIR OWN return policy. This also happened to me with my after bangs last season, so I am just saying that I am never going to buy another pair of line skis again.

so... this has already been said but invest in better skis. I have had my ARMADA Thalls 3 seasons now, on hood so that's roughly two years worth of ski season? Never had any problems. with them. Learned everything in the park on them and they have taken many the impact. Your fall may be your fault but if You don't want snapping upgrade your skis

Shut the fuck up. I broke a K2 Recoil last year in a similar way, and K2 replaced them no problem. K2 owns Line, so i dont see why OP didnt get new skiis. Seems jewish.

my friend snapped his afterbangs when he went switch into a pvc pipe... his ski got caught in it and it snapped in half. and i got in on film

This. my second day on snow with my new chronics, i landed realllyy backseat on a frontflip and  i snapped the one between the binding and the taill as well! i was so shocked too but the tip and tail on the chronics are generally thinner and way less sturdy than other types. When i sent them in, they were able to send me some new oness.

Exactly. From this thread I've gathered that he apparently has done 1 million rodeos, loves hitting rails and has been skiing on them for 6 months, and this incident of stress caused the manufacturers defect to reveal itself like some kind of genie. I find it ironic that you posted the 6 month time period to prove how bad the skis are but I find this same 6 month time period to prove the lack of a defect and thus lack of warranty.

I bought Line step ups just at the beginning of this season and they were the crappiest pair of skis ever! The base tore off the wooden layer of both skis and the medal rim was bent out of shape. This happened to both my skis in the same mont and there was no impact or anything obvious that could have caused this problem. I managed to fix them by myself since the repair shop couldn't. This is why I am never buying any skis from Line again because of how bad quality and crappy they are. Also, this season almost each pair of Line steps ups I saw had the same problem as mine. DON'T BUY FROM LINE!! Big waste of money!!!

if you under-rotated on a rodeo 7 how did you manage to land backseat...that would be over-rotating if you put down on your tails...

my friend did this to one of his skis on a pair of 2011 chronics, got a pair of the 2013's on warrenty, did the same thing to this pair of chronics, LINE refused his warranty saying he broke them wrong....line skis suck DICK

They should warrenty what its advertised for, because theyre a park ski, they should be warrantied for anything that happens in the park. Ford makes the Raptor and advertises that you can jump it and take it off road, and when people were jumping them and bending the frames, Ford warrantied that. Why can't ski companies stand by there product as it is advertised? Ford does it because they advertised it to work that way. So maybe Line shouldn't advertise that ski as a park ski if they arnt going to stand behind their product, just like pretty much any other ski company. Its bullshit that ski companies put ads of people on rails, yet void the skis warranty if the customer does the same.

Wrong, my edges on my Amplid Rockewells fell out underfoot and they wouldn't warranty it. A day before my warranty ended I called and told them my edges delaminated at the tip. They sent me new skis, therfor the warranty was not void because this was after I told them my edge fell out underfoot from rail damage. You are wrong, and to the rest of you, the warranty is for a year because a manufaturer defect can show up within a time period of a year. Just like cars have 5-10 year warranties with 50,000-100,000 miles covered. The defect can show up within that time.

K2 doesn't run Line though, besides corporate affiliation they're completely separate entities.

Ski companies do stand by their products when they fail under normal use.
Breaking skis against the natural flex doesn't seem like normal use. I know for a fact that Line warranties some pretty questionable shit.

What do you really hope to accomplish by whining on the internet? I'm pretty sure Line won't change their decision,

Somewhat true. if you hit rails, the warranty is voided as their warranty clause states. However, occasionally companies will ignore that if it is unrelated. Ex: you hit rails and have some evidence underfoot of it. But something entirely unrelated like your tip delamming happens, they will sometimes take care of that because it may still be a manufacturer defect.

A quick google search reveals that you are full of shit: Ford didn't warranty the vehicles, they declared that the damage was not from a defect, it was from inexperienced offroaders pushing the car so hard the frame bent. you had park skis hold up for SIX MONTHS?  thats fucking crazy, i dont know why you are bitching.  I rolled thru 4 pairs of skis this season.  all different kinds.

Putting on my CSI hat... if you double ejected (probably from the heels) and Line said they snapped "the wrong way" and the snow was pretty soft I'm going to say you dug the tails in almost vertically and then folded the ski over before the force was on an angle that the binding would release. No ski is going to take that kind of impact.
Long story short, suck it up, buy new skis.
