Just wondering what the advantages and disadvantages of center mounting my skis would be. (I ski a lot of park and hard packed trails... east coast.)

This is a quote from Mark Abma in the Dec 04 issue of freeze:
Freeze: How important is it to have center-mounted park skis?
Abma: 'I think it's pretty important, especially when you're landing backwards as much as you're landing forward- its's good to have an equal amount of tip and tail to land on. And when you'r spinning, having an even swing weight makes your that much more balanced. Center-mounted skis are good for pressing your tips and tails, too.
Hope this helped man.
Ride for yourself.
plus it barly takes any all mt prformance away. i personaly believe it doesnt subtract from anything and adds a whole bunch of good stuff
dont get it twisted
it doesn't take away from carving ability or anything?
it hold your stablility riding switch so you dont have this short lil tail behind you
Call The police he has no pants

my 2 setups are the orig. white line 1260s (center mounted), and the orig. darksides (mounted 3/4 inch behind recommended mounting line), so I speak from experience about the difference between the two.... the results are...
fairly noticable positive advantage in the park,
very noticible negative advantage in the powder,
carving / groomers is about the same.
if you're east coast I would definatly go for it. I rocked the 1260s on the east coast, only picked up the darksides when I moved out to ski bum in Colorado.
It def does take away your skiing performance I dont know what the hell you guys are talking about. I had TM's last year mounted regular then center mounted them this year and you can tell a difference in the way they ski, they dont carve or hold an edge as well. But yaeh switch skiing is alot easier.

yeah, the farther up you move your binding, the more your ski will want to turn (as the center of the sidecut is now behind you). so while the become a little more turnier, they also loose some stability. pretty much everything in sking is a trade off of responiveness and stability.the skis will be way more responsive center mounted, but will be less stable. and obviously, they will suck in powder and kill park.
in science class i sat down to fast and you know how you can sit on your balls. well i did and i sat down really fast and crushed them and right when i sat down i started puking and fell out of my chair. they teacher laughed. i felt like i could pass out i wanted to die.-*NWFT*nUkkA
I still just have no idea how you can mistake your dick and a chicken neck, let alone not realize what you are doing. -manus

my fujatives aren't center mounted because the tech didnt do it, which kind of pisses me off because i live in the midwest and basically ski park only.
I'm mounted 1cm back from core center on my tens. They are sick, but the noses wash sometimes landing switch and when I'm skiing lines, the tails have a tendency to want to swing around on me, but they are fun as all hell switch, and the swing weight is a noticeable difference in the air. I would recommend it for any hard snow skis, just not for powder, or cliffs.
