Being Sober

Drinking just doesn't feel as fun. I feel like I can have more fun with my friends and at parties / social gatherings without drinking. That is why, I'm going to stop drinking. At least for now. I'm not an alcoholic, far from it, I hardly ever drink alcohol anyways, but I think being sober would make someone a better person.

Also, my uncle is an alcoholic, and my other uncle died earlier this year because of liver damage from drinking. Its really hard to think about his son having to grow up without a father in the next couple years at this rate. I have friends affected by feudal alcohol syndrome... It just seems like there are too many negative effects to outweigh feeling drunk.

I'm going to try this little experiment, and see if there is any difference by the end of the month. I will be attending parties, hanging with friends, being around alcohol but will be staying sober. Also, I don't do drugs, or drink coffee, so my body will be completely free of cognitive-affecting substances. I'm going to be completely sober until the end of May. And NS, I urge you to challenge yourselves with this as well. I know it's not a big deal but hey, it could help. How great would a world, alcohol free be.

How can you say it makes you do stupid shit/it's not fun if you've had 1 beer.. Drinking is fun as fuck, and people don't always do stupid shit while drinking. You're generalizing everyone based on underage children you've seen drinking who drink to get dickered, not to socialize and loosen up.

It's been a month. Didn't drink once, and went to 3 parties. Dd'd for one, a house party, it was alright but I found my one friend was sober too and we chilled. Another one I was tempted to drink... But didn't. Had a lot of fun playing beer pong with coke haha.

I've decided to take a complete contrast intermission and get drunk once, this Saturday. We will see how it turns out, if I have more fun at the party than without alcohol, etc. just a little experiment. After this it is back to soberville, contrasting the differences of the effects drinking has.

I used to be like you, but on a real note Im not going to drink next semester with the exception of Halloween weekend. i want to see what happens, if it makes an actual difference in my life/school/working out.

I for one, enjoy my sobriety. Nothing like an ice cold Alamo though.

And this one time, I smoked the marijuana at some "hoodrat's" apartment and damn nearly lost my mind. Nothing good comes from that Devil's reefer I tell you hwhat.

Also it sucks that your uncle died from alcoholism but that doesn't mean that there aren't a ton of people who drink without problems. You said you never really drank much so what do you know about it. You are you to drop your huge life changing challenge?

^ k abortionator chill... Last night was fun but the differences in not drinking and drinking weren't really that big of a deal. I dunno. I just wanted to switch it up. Not gonna drink for awhile, I just think having a whole day be shitty because of a hangover isn't worth the extra fun. Going to continue being sober now, I like it more. Might have a beer now and then but not really drinking.

TL;dr for the thread, drinking isn't that great. Causes more harm than good and I can live without it (not counting an occasional drink).
