Who rides Armada Alpha 1's? I need some reviews
What's up NS, who rides Alpha 1's? I would love to hear what you have to say about the ski, if you love it or hate it. I have been searching around lately and it is really hard to find a solid review on this years model. They look like a fun ski to shred the park with. However, living on the east coast, I was wondering if anyone had any info on how they hold an edge on the icy hardpack because I have heard they don't do so well in firmer conditions. I am currently riding Volkl walls and they grip the ice well. However, I really want a more playful ski for next season, but I still want to be able to charge all over the mountain. Thanks for your input.
Charging all over the mountain big NO NO for alpha 1s in my opinion. Very narrow awkward for all mountain riding. UNREAL in the park on the other hand. I would suggest something a little wider for all mountain/park. Just my opinion. if you still want alpha 1s check my thread I am selling some mint right now.
oh didn't read the "playful" part. Deffs get some Punx you will not regret it!!
Yeah, I disagree. I have some 08/09 (original) alpha 1s and have no complaints. I'm on the east coast and most the time im in the park, sweet on jumps and I like them for rails. All mountain wise I find they ride pretty damn well for a park ski. If its really icy out then mine don't handle all well, but thats simply because mine have very little edge left. I also recently took them out west and we got a bit of powder and they handled fine in it. Honestly a really solid choice for skis, keep in mind they are quite stiff.
Do you know if there is a big difference between the original model and the current one (2012/2013)? And to Keylan, Punx are only a few mm wider, so I don't know if they'd be much better for all mtn, although they don't have rocker so that does give them more edgehold than the alphas.
wait and get next years. they are wider. they ski alot better all mountain than the old one did, and are solid in the park. having owned an old one a couple years ago, i liked this new version a lot better. its called the alpha x.
