I fucking hate anime.

I'm a pretty tolerant guy when it comes to almost everything in life. But there is one thing that just fills me with so much god damn rage and makes my blood boil and that is fucking anime.

I have never experienced anything that makes me this fucking mad. I hate everything associated with anime, including the people who fucking watch it.

My room mate sits on his ass and watches anime all fucking day and snaps his fingers to the beat of shitty japanese pop songs that are sung by a 10 year old girl. WHY DO THEY MAKE ALL THE FEMALE VOICES IN ANIME SOUND LIKE LITTLE GIRLS? FUCK. All the fucking songs are the same. The fans talk about how it's not just for kids and there are "badass" characters. I don't fucking buy it. I swear to god the NUMBER ONE criteria for my next room mate is that the do not watch anime in any way shape or form.

I know that this is probably a totally irrational hatred but it's true. I am 23 and anime wants me to act like a high school bully. Seriously. Fuck anime. Normal comic books are still cool.

The first series is about a pack of bounty hunters that never seem to have money or food and the shit they go through to try and catch bounties. The second one is about two guys that want to kill each other getting suckered into helping this girl from a teahouse basically find her dad. And the last one is about a bullied kid from high school picking up boxing and making it to the world stage.



Like I said, your room-mate sounds like he watches the shit made for little girls.

Bleach though (the series the last two vids are from) is so.... God, it had a decent story at the beginning that it totally 100% jumped the shark.

This series isn't too bad if you don't mind crazy outrageous powers and shit:

My current one might but I've lived with guys who basically gave me the same argument as you just did.

I don't see how that is in anyway badass unless you are a 10 year old boy. Shitty music and cartoon characters fighting =/= badass. There is no such thing as cool anime. Also I have seen some of the avatar episodes. Apparently it's not actually anime. It's also a kids show but at least I could sit in the same room when it was playing.

Holy fuck, this. My little brother is a fucking addict. He's generally chill, fun to be around, and pretty decent at skiing for a seventh grader, but whenever he starts watching anime about like high school girls or something I just have to resist the urge to smack him upside the head and ask him what the fuck is wrong with him. It's just the most annoying shit ever.

Anime is visual poetry. Like poetry, there is a lot of crap out there. But, anime is not about a plot, its about emotional change over time. Its really subtle, but there is a lot of beauty and work that goes into anime. Think of it as superhero comics, but with more detail on expression and less focus on the action. I do agree on the translations, they couldnt suck more.

Believe it or not, The Matrix was based on a Japanese anime style. Notice how the camera pans to show the speaker and the other guy. Notice how eyes were more focused and longer scene were used to show expression.

anime is a pretty big group to generalize. there is a lot that is very cringe worthy, but some that are very serious and elegantly done. i can't stand some, but there are several that i really enjoy. miyazaki's films are all wonderful. i saw akira for the first time when i was high and it was some mind blowing shit. it really opened me up to more anime. i used to think anime was shit, now some of my favorite shows are anime

You just made everyone that read that lose brain cells.

In my opinion, anime is way more intricate and a lot more intellectually stimulating than what shows you can find on American television. First off, do not base the whole genre of "anime" off shitty pop songs and hentai. I would prefer, if I watch TV at all, to sit down and watch a composition that has a good storyline and a unique art style, as opposed to the humor on most American shows that have the intellectual capacity to make a seven year old laugh.

Fuck Family Guy, that kind of American humor is embarrassing.

Samurai Champloo can kick the shit out of any other American show, short of Arrested Development, but surprise, it wasn't dumb and simple enough for the mass American population, so it got canceled.


There is a reason why Japan is statistically "smarter" than the U.S., and that is probably also why anime comes from Japan and Family Guy comes from America.

honestly, i think nostalgia plays a big part into why some people are so into anime, its something they grow up watching. but what keeps them watching anime as adults are the complex and well written story-lines many of the shows and films have. i wouldn't pass anime off as shit until you actually watch an entire film, or at least part of a tv series.

In America anime is like a hidden treasure trove of cultural reference. A lot of it is referenced and even ripped off completely by American musicians and directors because they can get away with it. It's like a big secret that everyone who isnt prejudiced about it gets to cash in on (Quentin Tarentino, Kanye West, Etc.)

The culture around anime is really fucking weird.

But when i was like 10 I watched Spirited Away, dont remember the plot too well but i remember it was an amazing movie. It was the only anime ive seen but it was sick, I dunno different strokes for different folks
