Pistols vs Rockets

Which are better in the park, and off piste, the salomon pocket rockets, or the k2 pistols?

but i havent skied the pistols, the pr's work pretty well on groomed though but feel kinda planky.
any ski that wide underfoot will feel planky in the park. Very Planky

you shouldnt name a ski unless you've skid both, beause thats just assumign and giving him false information , tell the guy what the ski is like. like if you skid pr explain what its like dont tle lhim to choose them because you have them?

The pistol is more versatile, than the rocket launcher. If another spartan is charging you, the rocket does more damage, but its slow, less accurate, and there is a high chance you might take yourself out. The pistol is still very powerful, with a little practice can be used short range effectively. In which case you can use the 2x scope to gain a semi-sniper gameplay, or a running rioteer with only a pistol. I say Pistols.

I agree the pistol is overall the best for short and long range, however rocket is clearly the best at short range but sucks at mid to long range.

I haven't skied both. Here is what I do know:

The PR's kick supreme ass (though I'm sure since fucking SETH MORRISON rides the pistols they also ream ass). I bought mine last season and they have held up well. They are flexible, but not too much. They ride well everywhere except for icy snow, but that shouldn't concern you because they aren't designed for ice. If there is ANY fresh snow AT All the PR's just stright up produce PWN4G3 on the mountain. Good width (not a water ski, but fatter than a park ski, obviously) and good weight, i.e. spaceframe.

i rekon the pistols are a better idea for if ur dunna use them for a bit of everything, they are way stiffer and they do things other than powder allright, they weigh heaps more than the pr but on powder its really about what you like, id get pistols but that just coz i hate butter soft skis like the pr

Yeah I'd have to say pistols too. No travel time, and very accurate. But the Rocket's have a huge blast radius and can take out Warthog's.

I have PRs and love them. The foam core doesn't bother me at all, and I gurantee you I weigh more than you, if you're worried about them being too soft. I like a ski I can throw around. I haven't skied the Pistol, but I really want to. That will be my next ski, that or the PE.

Best advise is to demo. No one can offer any decent advise on how you'll like them. I demo'd mine before I bought because I snapped the toepiece off of mine when I was on a trip. Made my mind up then and there

I'd say the PRs, they are a little more versatile. THey are a bit skinnier and stiffer so they'll fair better on hard pack and in the park.

my god yet another post where pistols r compared 2 PR's. I've skied both, and like all salomon shit, the PR's wont dissapoint. The pistols kick ass. dont know wot the price difference is but if money is no object pizzo's all the way. if u ski like seth PR's will last a week tops.

damn! pocket rocket suck as hell unless you're a beginner in pow'. morrison can be good if you take it looonng! if you're a good skier: my advice: Scratch BC. this yera they are ugly, but i ski the first generation ones, i was never surprised! fast and furious!

if youre actually good enough to NEED fat skis, then the difference between a foam core and a wood core wont matter. either one will be skied out after a little more than a season.

no kidding you dont need to be good to own them. just i know a TON of people that have pow skis, and either suck, or just dont need them. all i'm saying, is that if you're not that good, it wont make a difference cause you suck, and theres no need for pow skis seeming how theyre not gonna enhance your performance, you need to bring your level up to be able to ski pow well before you should buy them.

Haha, how can a particular ski be bad for your knees. Crashing is bad for your knees not some ski. Oh yeah and I still say Pistols are softer than PRs.

I took my new pistols out today, and they rock. Yes the pocket rockets where fun but the pistols rock. I’ve skied both hard, and the K2 are way better. The pistols are notability in the groomers. They don’t get tossed up as much. Plus anyone who says that wide skies are only good in pow, doesn’t know how to ski.

tail of the 189 pistol is definitely stiffer than the pr, tip is pretty soft though

you should, if your tail is too soft you lose a ton of stability, and if your tip is too stiff it wont float

what? the stiffness of the tip and tail play into the torsional rigidity of the ski? a ski can have a soft flex all the way through but still be torsionaly stiff

no one talks about torsional rigidity because if the ski is laterally stiff, it will more than likely be torsionally stiff as well. and its way easier to pick up a ski and flex it from tail to tip to see how stiff it is than to try to hold it still and try to test its torsional rigidity.

Ya if the tip/tail is soft it will lack torsional stabiluty, which will decrease your ability to contol the ski. I can deal eith a soft ski, just as long as it has torsional stability.
