He comes back to x games plagued with injuries, can't even hold poles because of broken wrists, is by far the oldest competitor, was out of the game long enough for pipe skiing to progress an insane amount, then comes back to x games and takes home bronze. I'm damn impressed. Don't even know how a guy like that can get so much hate.
because little fucks on this site dont understand what an absolute beast simon is. I can even count how many times ive seen him land on his ribs on the top of the pipe.
Hes not getting any hate this year because hes not acting like a bitch this year. I realize it has to be a let down to lose an event youve been training for all year but the way hes showed his emotions came off as douchy.
Respect simon, cannot wait to see what you bring to the table next tear, stay safe
Same run as he did previous years, but still mad respect. What better way is there to show what real love for the sport looks like? He is older, injured, generally a battle-scarred veteran but he still just keeps going out there and pushing, year after year. That's why I always cheer for him, wish people on here would stop bitching about him being too competitive. If you want to be a legend, you have to hate losing. I guarantee you that guys like T-Wall hate losing as well, they are just better at hiding their feelings and smiling toward the camera. Go Simon, I hope you keep at it for years to come!
The guys a legend in our sport, asshole or not, and you have to respect the fact that even though he's older, he's still doing what he loves and going super hard.
same as me. a kid im friends with on facebook posted slumdog illionaire on news feed so i watched it. from that day of the fall until winter started i watched everyone of his and tom wallisch edits and thata the only reason i free ski
i was just thinking about bringing that up, i respect what he did last night. and it was sick to see him stoked for torin after he layed down that last run
This. Also I've met him at the Dumont Cup and he was kind of a dick to me. I asked him for his autograph and he told me later then he just skied away and never gave anyone autograph.
Simon is the illest. when everyone hated him in multiple threads, i kept wondering why. Sure hes got an attitude, but he is serious about the sport, which i like.
I'm glad this thread got made. I've always been a fan of Simon. His "attitude" has never bothered me. He's a competitor and athlete, and I can absolutely relate to that. I'd rather spend an entire day with Simon, than even an hour with T-Hall.
I saw him up in the start gate at the Grand Prix today. That dude is so determined. And short. But majorly determined. I've always liked Dumont. Don't know where all the hate comes from.
He's been slaying for over a decade and has one of the most distinct styles in skiing.
I was so stoked to see him on the podium, and even more stoked when i saw his run.
The guy is a beast, and really not the huge toolbag everyone makes him out to be.
simon's still one of my favorite skiers, Tanner and him were the first ones i saw doing pipe and park when i started skiing 6 years ago, especially the intense rivalry a few years back was one of the best in sports.
I completely forgot about Empire... my friend had one of those bandannas.
Anyways, I still think that Simon is a bit of an ass, but it was good to see how driven he is and its slightly better now that he can back it up again.
It's disappointing how the state of Maine rejects their greatest freestyle skiing success, although it is well deserved from his attitude. On the other hand Shea is an idol here
