So i've heard this term many times and I've looked it, and i was just wondering what do you think metrosexuality is? Would you consider yourself a metrosexual? What do the Pinknames thinks of metrosexuality? People have called me metrosexual because I care about how i look and like nice clothes, but some say that metrosexuals go out and get pedicures and manicures and all that. What do you think?

Being metrosexual has nothing to do with being gay or straight, it's about how you dress and express yourself. Personally, I say fuck the gender binary and just be a fucking person and do whatever the fuck you want. There's not boy shit and girl shit, our culture made that up in the last 100 years; I'm sure you would mostly all call the manliest shit in 1640 'gay' these days.

Hardly. I don't have particularly nice things. My car is old and dented. My suits are more than 5 years old. My skis are 4 seasons old and 5 seasons old. I have an iphone and an ipad but the latter was refrubished and is 2 years old. I don't like to overspend on anything. I never buy clothes unless they are on sale. I wear them until they get holes in them (and even still wear them then). You don't have to spend a lot to look good. Even stores like Target and Gap have worked tirelessly to bring fashion clothing to the masses. Living in the greater LA area some of my best friends are horribly materialistic. People judge here like crazy. I don't fit in with the Hollywood/snob lifestyle, and I never want to.

Ya, really. Dressing nice doesn't make you metro, you can be well kept and not be metro. But if you like chicks yet you dress like someone who likes dick you are metro. It's really not that hard to understand..

I've always thought of it as guys who put a lot more time and effort into fashion and their appearance than most. I think of it as the guys who are very clean cut and aren't afraid to get manicures and wear pastel pink. And that's fine, do your thing. Personally, though, I've never really been attracted to that. No hate towards it, but I just like scruffy, outdoorsy men who don't really give a fuck. Just personal preference though.

either this isn't true, or it's a thing for the new gen of skiers? Do you mean on the slopes or on the streets?

All of the skier guys I've ever hung out with are just outdoorsy guys- on the slopes they don't care what they look like, wear the gear that is high performance or comfortable, and on the streets just wear what they like. None of them have been into their looks.

metro is getting pretty big in the uk, girls increasingly want guys who keep themselves in good shape, not just in the gym but eyebrows, piercings, tanning waxing etc.
my brother plays rugby at his his uni and hits the gym times a week, he's massive, benching 140kg but still goes to a tanning salon, wears moncler, gucci.
its pretty much just good club game but its not easy at all for guys to pull anymore, so much effort! girls expect to much, to the point where guys spend more time on there physical apperance

haha, i know exactly what you mean, its pretty crazy, i'm quite a hairy guy so its just not worth trying to keep up, like i occasionally trim my chest hair but that's as far as i'll go. but then again i don't get many girls at clubs. When i'm ski bumming girls want something completely different, guys have it tough!

Fck that. They have that in the US too, it's called being a self absorbed metrosexual.

I always felt like metrosexual as a term mostly referred to self-obsession and love for yourself, and I'm kind of glad that the guy who invented the word agrees. It's not about being gay, it's about being in love with yourself and obsessed with how sexy you think you are.

well apparently you think you are authority on defining the word, even though 99% of the posts in this thread and the internet as a whole disagree with you.

If metrosexual was simply showering, having decent hygiene and dressing in clean clothing, then no one would have a problem with it.

As stated above-- thinks like waxing, tanning, plucking your eyebrows, styling your hair, etc. are considered metro-- regardless of what you think-- and these things are not necessary to have great hygiene.
