So I'm planning on flying out west pretty soon, something I've never done before, I'm wondering what the best way to take the skis is, do they get damaged, and any other useful tips for my voyage. Thanks NS!
If you don't have a ski bag then go one! Then wrap your skis in cardboard and then wrap your skis with your ski clothes/other clothing. Mainly just around the bindings
i usually put two pairs of skis in a ski bag and pack a bunch of jackets around them for some padding. some people remove the bindings from their skis and put them in their carry on to save on overweight baggage fees.
Every time i travel somewhere i put my skis in a ski bag and put clothing on either side to fill up the bag. I used to bring my boots with me on the plane but i don;t think thats a loud any more. But stuff that i cant or dont feel like renting (if ever they lose my luggage) like goggles, hat, gloves, helmet, etc.. i put in my carry on. I pack my suit in with my skis and other clothes, probably useless but just incase they hit them or something, a bit of cushion.
