How fast do ppl ski when they book ass down steep groomers
Yes I usually have my GPS goggle vision turned on, it also has auto-lock on for zoning in on rails or lining up with kickers, it's very accurate. They installed a new ILS in our park so that you can tell what angle and speed you need to be doing to land in the right place.
Typically I average around 200 km/h on a groomer though, according to my latest GPS info. What system do you guys use?
I've done 71 at night on the ice chute that is River Run at Keystone. It was measured with GPS, but I've found it to be within a few mph of a proper radar gun. Scary as crap, I don't know how racers do it.
The other day I hit 52.6mph straight lining a trail that wasn't too steep though. And it was quite bumpy. Looking forward to see how fast I go when I race this year.
My buddy and I hit 98km/h last year on Dave Murray's Downhill run on whiss. Used ski tracks so I don't know accurate that may be. Ex-racer and real comfy going fast so I'm sure we weren't too far off.
last year we were playing around with the ski tracks app or whatever it's called and I hit 130km/hour (80 miles). Not sure how accurate it is though. I want to hit 100 miles and I think I know the run I can do it on, just gotta wait for the right day.
was clocked with a GPS pretty accurate at 66.1 mph going down upper standard at STratton. 60-70 isn't to bad just takes balls and some nice ice i find anything really more than that you gotta get your tuck down nice and the clothes holds your speed back a bit. Granted that stratton isnt a huge mountain but gets the job done
i hit 67.7 mph (109 kph?) on copperopolis at copper mountain last weekend. i was on my normal park skis (recoil comp) and just straight lined it. scary as hell but so much fun. i don't even want to know what it'd feel like to fall going that fast.
