Right - I want to know if messing about on a scooter at the skatepark is something that will compliment park skiing. Not talking about anything insane, just want to have something else to do when I can't get out on my skis.
Every XTREME sport has hard tricks and easy tricks. Sure learning to ride a scooter is easier, but there are still certainly hard tricks that require a shit ton of skill. No sport is harder than another because there is always room for progression and harder tricks.
So on point. I skate a lot, but I scooter a bit too. Because the learning curve is easier, I can go tail whip an 8 set, where on my skateboard I can kickflip a 3 set and Ollie a little bit bigger sets. There is no easier sport, you can always go bigger. I can hit fat banks or even slide rails I would never hit on a skateboard. That being said, there is nothing more rewarding than progressing while skateboarding.
Im not really debating whether it is dumb or not, good thing you got the point of that post.
And to answer the OPs question. It might not translate as much to skiing as other sports, but anything to work on your balance and awareness will help your skiing. You might get shit for scootering, but who cares if you are having fun doing it, there will always be idiots that hate on others because their XTREME sport is "cooler" than yours, but those people just suck at life. As long as you are following proper etiquette in the park go for it.
