anyone set it up on a virtual server on your own computer? because i need some help with it.

I haven't done it on a virtual server, but I don't see how it would be different then installing it to the root.

ok, well, i've gotten 3/4 of the way to a full PHP running virtual host. i've got apache running fine, PHP 5 is installed and working, MySQL is running fine, but the f#@#$king PHPMyAdmin, i can't get it configured to run the MySQL. I've been doing a bit of reading, and it seems as if PHP 5 doesn't come bundled with MySQL support. So, I guess my question is, how do I compile/install in MySQL support? Or am I even on the right track?

I got some program called appserv, it basically installs apache, sql, and php onto your computer. It works fine for me.

do you just edit the SQL databases yourself then? because that's why i'm trying to get PHPMyAdmin running, because I know nothing about SQL, more than how to make it work (sort of) with MyAdmin.

i've never done phpadmin to mysql, but i am assuming you need to connect to it via ODBC or JDBC. Is this where you're hung up?

Oh yeah, PHP5, the module or package or whatever they call it for MySQL isn't enable by default like it was for PHP4.

Find the php.ini that the sever is using, and look for this line:

;extension=php_mysql.dll

take out the semicolon

extension=php_mysql.dll

and restart apache. I think that was all.

OH MY GOD QUAZ!!!!!! IT DID SOMETHING DIFFERENT!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

2 days of trying, and now all i have to do is figure out where the .dll is and i'm set!!!!!!!! i'll be back....................

well, i've actually got the right files now, but it's 1am, and i'm toast.

it's just a question of getting PHP to actually FIND php_mysql.dll , and i don't know how to do that. yet. goodnight.

Quaz, help?

It went from just telling me that PHP was configured wrong, to telling me that it can't load the DLL, and telling me PHP was configured wrong. So, I'm pretty sure that fixing the DLL will fix the PHP. My question is, how to install the DLL, and get PHP to recognize it.

php_mysql.dll be in my E:\Apache Group\php\ext folder, and thar be a php5ts.dll and libmysql.dll in E:\Apache Group\Apache. What have you got?
