in order to keep some semblance of control, schools suspend your basic (first 10 amendments) rights, ie freedom of speech (can't have kids running around saying shit, fuck, cock, etc or insulting teachers - it's a control thing), search and seizure (don't need anything offical to search your locker, just probable cause), self incrimination (they can pretty much force you to tell them whatever they want by threatening suspension/expulsion - it's basically coersion), etc.
from the second you step foot on school grounds until the second you get home, you're under their rules. so if on your way home you do something illegal and somehow it gets back to the school, not only will you face the police, but your school as well. welcome to the land of the free.
