Just got a blu ray copy in the mail- watched it, then rewatched it...
holy shit- the segments in this movie are insane. it is the best ski movie i have ever seen. i dont know if anyone else felt this way watching it, but it was hands down the most incredible ski movie i have ever watched. ive seen a fair amount of MSP's movies and i watch alot of other ones but god damn Superheroes of Stoke is legendary- please tell me someone else saw it

Short memories from kids... some of the shit MSP has pulled over the last decade towards atheletes and especially other companies has been very shitty. One of my favourite quotes ever on this site was when someone said "watching Global Storming for me now is like listening to old Michael Jackson music... sure, it's great, but after hearing about all the kiddie touching it just isn't the same."

I don't care if it's been a few years, a boycott doesn't mean anything if you forget about it after a couple of seasons and I can't get myself to pull the trigger here.

I know what you're referring to and yeah, people do stupid things when their business and pride and joy are threatened by competition from others. I know Berman has let it go and there's mutual respect between companies. Maybe you can let it go, too.

In the end, MSP is just a company full of skiers with a passion for skiing that won't die. Why else would they continue down the same road for 20 years when there are a lot of ways for a quality production company to make money elsewhere?

Well, it wasn't just the high five bonus thing, there was all that stuff that came out surrounding WSKI and Tanner/CR/Iberg and the VAS/PBP stuff that pissed Levin off so much and etc etc etc. There was a bunch of stuff that happened, not all of which came to light fully, but none of it is worth re-litigating at this point.

And yes, Scott, I fully recognize that this is about 8 years later and it's all water under the bridge and you guys and Berman have probably buried the hatchet if there was ever really one to bury. I recognize also that this was mostly Steve W and not you. It's also not the same ski industry as it was in 2004, the sport was a totally different environment at that time so the tone of the outcry on here at the time might seem disproportionate in retrospect. But (in addition to a number of pretty naive things I'd probably regret if I went over it again) I said at the time in very strong words that I would never buy another MSP movie and I feel like I should stand by that in order for the idea of taking a principled stand against that kind of stuff to be meaningful.

It's a good movie this year, like I said I think Permin beat the world this year. I don't question people buying it just on the basis of it being a good move, particularly if this old news history doesn't matter to those people anymore or they weren't around when it happened. But I just couldn't quite click that button.

Apart from our die hard MSP boycotter i have to say this movie was amazing this year, Permin just skiied two avalanches haha but i'm curious as to why no bobby this year. I know he was filming alot with PBP but i always thought he fit the MSP program really well..

Believe it or not i can read so i did get that part from his message. But quite frankly no one on here could give two fucks about some dude who has a personal vendetta against MSP, an opinion like that is much better when kept to one's self. My question is still up for grabs though i was really surprised to see no Bobby and i never read anywhere he was leaving that program so i'm still a little confused

Bobby tried to film but got screwed by weather in Alaska and by weather again in Squaw (as well as too small a jump). There was every intent to have him in this movie. Sometimes things don't work out.

I'm with you JD. I can't say that I was ever offended by them though. Lame moves for sure back then but I mainly boycotted because I knew I did not need to buy the movie to watch the exact same thing 4 years in a row. I must say that yes, I did enjoy the movie and there was some sick skiing in it. And I love that they are not so serious about themselves anymore. The last 3 movies have been enjoyable but there is still much to critique.

Permin and Hoji were the stand outs. Could have had way less Michelle Parker. I would have enjoyed watching her just ski.

The booter session sucked this year. Not that the tricks weren't dope but there were no super unique tricks. Seemed like a fairly standard jump fest from last year. Triple was dope I guess. The cinematography was sub par in the AK shoot. Shaky and grainy. Then there would be a random lifestyle shot that was all super HD as if it was the only footage they got out of the RED camera or whatever they used. Anyone else notice this?

Stoked once again.

I buy every MSP and every TGR movie, and I don't get disappointed. 

Permin, Abma, and Hoji really destroyed it.  The Abma bonus scene blew me away.  That crazy spine at 1:22:13 is one of the best I have ever seen.  Abma is absolutely at the very top of the game.

Permin might well be the best skier in the world at this moment.

i agree that permin may be on top of the skiing world- goes big every time and stomps almost all his hucks- abma, hoji and pettit continue to blow me away with their style and skill as well

Well... Candide better pulls his socks up to keep the title as best skier on the planet. I haven't seen few words yet but holy shit Permin is the fucking man. Riding out two avalanches like its no big deal, nailing huge cliffs and stomping massive 3s of them and finally throwing a dub cork on a 30m park jump... Knew he could kill it, but didn't see that coming. HOLY SHIT french takeover.

Just saw the production version of this and was surprised to see they changed Permin's song from the version of the movie I saw in theatres. It used to be Metallica and they switched it for this Jane's Addiction song... maybe there was a music rights issue and that was part of the delay? Only speculation.
