Hit By A Drunk Driver

First off, I'm perfectly alright.

I was curious to see who else was ever hit by a drunk driver?

I was stopped at a red light on Sunday at 10p, next thing I know, I heard a loud bang and was moving forward. Once I realized I was just rear ended I made sure I was alright. I then got out of my car and see what kind of damage there was. My back end of my 2011 Fiesta was destroyed. I then saw the driver of a lifted F-250 pull over on the side of the road.

At that exact moment, a cop was driving in the opposite lane, pulled over and asked me what happened. At that moment, the F-250 started to drive away. I then informed the cop that the truck hit me and is now driving away. The cop then chased him about a mile down the road and pulled him over. Turns out he was drunk as hell.

Turns out that the guy did about $9,000 worth of damage and is going to take 28 days to fix.

While one of my friends was driving me past where I got hit, I looked and there were no tire marks. The estimated speed of the truck was 40 mph. Since I was driving a stick shift, my clutch was in, as soon as he hit me I simply rolled forward. I can't even imagine what the damage would be like if I was on the brakes when I was hit.

Anyways, anyone else ever hit but a drunk driver?

no shave winter, it will be back for the summer though. Shave the beard keep the stache after a good 6 months of growth... hell ya

My dad got read ended by a f250 so hard his seat back snapped. Totaled car obviously. People that drive that drunk are fucking retards

go get the damage quoted at a shop that charges a ton, send it to insurance. insurance will respond with a nice check for something close to the estimate, then take your car to a shop that isn't so expensive and pocket the rest. I had a friend who got rear ended and only messed up his trunk. Insurance sent him 2K and he used a bungee cord and a hammer to fix it, now you can barely tell anything is wrong unless you are close. So he made 2 grand and blew it on clothes

you've never drove a standard and just put it in neutral at a stop light? I dont' know about you, but I don't plan on someone rear ending me everytime I roll up to a stop sign

Well you should because it only takes one time for it to happen to kill you. Also my dad's 98 sonata (I think) was a stick shift. And at the stoplight I always had my foot all the way down on the clutch and my other foot on the brake.

Never got hit by a drunk driver, but me and my dad were driving and these 2 asians girls here on a work visa ran 2 red lights and hit us took off the front right side of our mini-van

If I got hit by a drunk driver I would do anything I can to fuck him over after the fact if I was still alive. Drunk drivers are the scum of the earth, seeing parents or kids die because of shit like that makes me sick.

Glad you're okay OP! Scariest thing ever when i got a phone call from my friends mom when he got hit by a drunk driver. In the ICU for 2 weeks and completely shattered his tibua and fibula in his right leg and now has metal bones.

Pic of his car, he was hit by a jeep grand cherokee. The drunk driver passed away 7 days later in the hostpital

We had to treat a guy who came into the ER after a drunk car crash last night. Guy was a total douchebag. Said he drank 3 Four Locos then crashed into a tree at 70, rolled his car 6 times, and had to get cut out with the jaws of life. He had a bunch of broken bones and two pretty big head lacerations. Oh...and when we got his drug screen back, turns out he was also high on cocaine and weed. Thank god he hit a tree and not an oncoming car. Fuck drunk drivers.

^ I usually don't work in the er but one night after the 4th of July 3 people came in for motorcycle accidents within 5 minutes. Apparently some dude was driving his wife, dunno about the other guy. This guy only had a dislocated finger and a leg laceration, but I heard his wife wasn't so lucky...don't drink n drive kids

Wow thats terrible.

So can anyone help me on how this works? Estimated damage is $16,000. I still owe $10,000 on the car. Does that mean I get a check for 16, pay 10 towards my car and then have 6 left for a new car?

Yeah. Part of me really wants to but thats not my style. However, my audio system is fucked. That he will be paying for.

-1 bc he said his clutch was down. good stick drivers know that the car should be in netural at the stop with the foot off the clutch. spares your springs for a lil longer.

on the drunk driving thing i was hit by a drunk driver that blew a redlight. i wason a bike and got throwen from my bike. i got a cuncussion and had the drunk guy drive me back to m6y apt.

My grandfather got smashed by a drunk driver back in the day. It was a head on collision on the highway, both cars were going about 90km/h. It was an old undivided highway and the guy came out from the other lane, killing him and 3 passengers before authorities got there. My ol graps spent about a year in the hospital, and he had to learn how to walk again. He has some gnarley scars all over his arms and legs and has crazy collection metal stakes and pins that used to holding him together. He was an immigrant with this model air plain business that was really starting to take off (ignore the pun) and his time away from the business really hindered his success. Nothing good becomes of drinking and driving, pretty much means you have no respect for the well being of anybody but yourself.
