Its not surprising, they had way, way too many athletes on their team. It sucks because B-Paul is the fucking man though, he's got insanely good style, plus he's got a real good attitude and such a nice guy. I can see them shifting their focus back to primarily comp skiers, it's an easier sell.
except Apo got bought over by some very rich Russian guy... I guess money shouldn't be a problem then.
And coreupt had such a stupid business strategy, (selling only in the internet) no wonder they collapsed. Don't know anything about Klint though.
The ski industry was VERY different in 2002 buddy. Armada was one of the very first independent rider driven brands, they filled a niche in the market that is currently completely saturated.
Think about it; what core, idie, twin-tip only ski brands were around before Armada? I can only think of Line. 4FRNT didn't really get off the ground until 2003-2004 if memory serves me correctly.
Armada had very little competition in an emerging market, APO has to fight off established players and like 20 other indie brands offering what is essentially the same message and product.
The thing about most skiers today is that we know what we want, and loads of us are very loyal to certain brands. For me to buy a pair of skis from a new brand I know little about is a huge gamble (especially since it appears the Sammy C pro model is going for $550 online).
Don't even get me started on how much worse the world economy is compared to 2012...
They've been in business for 10 years doing snowboards in europe, 4 for skis. I don't think the 3-year go bankrupt plan is in their books. I got to ski the Sammy C's this summer at Hood and they're sick. Poppy but softer in the nose for butters, light, and really good construction quality. Not a lot of people on them in the US because it's they're first year of being available here but I guess in Europe they do pretty well.
I don't scream like a 12 year old girl when I ski park, so obviously powder is better.
i work at a ski shop, (second wind sports in hood river) and we just got the APO Hutches, Sammy C pros, and Rons in. they feel like solid skis. and apparently their snowboards hold together really well. my guess is that they will be great skis, and kids will buy up the sammy c pros quickly.
I'm going to take the gamble and get the APO hutches this year, because Sammy is stoked on APO, and I'm curious of the hype on NS for rockered park skis.

The Ski's are dope! I wouldn't ride for some fakeass company Trust me... My ski's gotta be right. The dude designing the ski's has shaped skis for 25 years. They weren't the only company to ever approach me while i was with Salomon. I tried lots of ski's and APO's are legit. They're shaped in the Elan factory. I haven't broke a single pair. The reason not many people have tried them is because there new to the U.S. They just opened up U.S headquarters in Portland, OR if you wanna Demo some or more info call: 1-888-960-1676 to see where you can demo a pair or check em at www.apo-snow.com
